Let me start by saying that the food is excellent here, but that is really were the good news ends, and everything else just does not make it worthwhile going any more. Called in for lunch, were seated and then we waited. We waited for our menus, then we waited again for drinks order to be taken, then again to be delivered, then again for our food order to be taken, and then the real wait began - for our food order to be delivered, and we had only ordered sandwiches! All in all it took an hour and a half from arrival to receiving our sandwiches. When we queried this we were curtly told that we make everything fresh. Well this may be the case, but it does not take that long to make sandwiches. We were not the only ones querying the wait time. Clearly the cafe is woefully under staffed, and 2 people cannot run the whole operation including the kitchen and deliver a service to customers in an acceptable time. There is no warmth of service either and both staff looked under pressure, with the atmosphere being reminisent of Faulty Towers as the waitress ran around fire fighting customer complaints about the wait time, and the owner noisily prepared food in the kitchen - I think she was throwing things into a sink by the crashing noises going on. The shame is that the owner can clearly cook well, and does cook things from fresh, however people will not wait forever and will stop returning. As we got our sandwiches, another table questioned whether their order was ready only to be told that they had just had to do our big order - a table of 4! The decor is still tired, although a partial reprint has taken place, it is not of great quality. As I say, the experience was frustrating because with some small changes it could be so good. I dread to think how they would cope if they got busy!
