“peaceful break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2009

me and my husband went to llandudno with our daughter and grand daughter, every one
had a great stay the rooms were large and airy, and we enjoyed a swim each evening. llandudno is a pleasant town with plenty of shops and things to do, we all enjoyed the tram ride to the top of the great orme. we will be going back.

After reading the previous reviews I was not expecting the hotel to be good. I realize now that some people are never satisfied, for the price paid this is a good hotel, it is clean, the food was very good indeed, you had a choice of three which you picked after your breakfast, this did not bother me because it cuts back on waste. there was a singer on every night, and the prices at the bar was surprisingly cheap. The price we paid for three days was very reasonable.and it is in a very good position. give it a try, but remember what you are paying.

The downstairs is ok for a two star hotel, but once you get to the bedrooms you might be in for a shock, narrow corridors lead to your bedroom, ours was small, the bathroom was tiny with no shower, black mould was in the corner of the bath seal.A new bathroom door had been fitted but left unpainted.Towels were changed daily.
Our window had not been cleaned for quite a while and the window bottom was full of dust, the carpet was stained by what seemed coffee stains. On the ceiling the paper was water stained and in places black in colour, bedroom furniture was dated and was well past its best, i have put better on the bonfire.headboard to bed was padded and well faded it looked awful and old fashioned.but the bed was clean and comfortable.
My cup or mug was cracked and the coffee was the worst ever, but there was tetley tea bags.
The restaraunt was slow at times, but the soup was very good and hot,the same could not be said for the main meals, limited menu and not cooked very well, boiled potatoes were hard, veg was bland, and meals were just about warm, you could tell the food had been standing for ages,as for the sweet it was left just outside the restaraunt on a table which was left uncovered.
You have been warned.

This hotel is situated right on the lovely promenade of Llandudno and looks lovely from the outside but what a difference when you step through the door!

As you would expect the hotel is old, but has definately not seen a lick of paint or a good clean for a long time. The bedrooms are disgusting with most without shower facilities, with wallpaper peeling off the walls and telephone sockets hanging out of the wall. In fact in the twin room that we were in the base of the beds had holes in them. Also in our room there was no window but only a glass fire escape door.

The hotel advertises swimming facilities - only if you want to pick up all sorts of infections! the pool area for showering prior to going into the pool had no water, had black mould everywhere including on shower curtains

The General Manager Mr Mitchell and his reception staff (with the exception of 1) had terrible attitudes towards guests and accused guests of lambasting them when complaints were made.

The only plus was that the food was acceptable and the restaurant who were mainly of foreign nationalities were very efficient and friendly

I will not be going back to this hotel,I would have to be payed myself to go back there it was disgusting and dirty and very dated. We went with a coach trip though National holidays the coach trip itself was very good with an excellent and well informed driver called paul and was fun to be with. Now to the serious part of my review which will not be very pleasent reading to some people but needs to be said.My wife and myself went to this hotel expecting at least half edible food which was not forthcomig and was really just a complete washout. Then we had the final sickening episode when i ordered the roast ham salad. It was served wih half tomatoe, peppers, onions,a moutain of lettuce(no doubt to make it look better)and two slices of ham.what i didnt expect was the apearance of a two inch worm that came wriggling out when i lifted the ham from the lettuce. The salad was quickly taken by the waitress with cries Martin Martin help and euh.I went to our room feeling very sick.we waited and waited for someone to say sorry for what had happened but no one came forward maybe if they had i wouldnt be writing this now.

Travelled to this hotel with national holidays 2 day trip one night in hotel can't complain about the trip for what it cost very good value and our driver was excellent all the staff at the hotel were very helpful especially the dinning room staff. The food was also good for the price we paid. The hotel is also in a very good position close to shos and bars.My only complaint would be about the room we got! When we arrived we were told we could not have our room untill 3pm that was fine because we wanted to look around anyway. We got back to the hotel at 3.20pm the lady on reception gave us a room key and a slip of green paper with room number on it we noticed that the room number had been changed from 461 to 462? We soon found out why! The room was in a corner down four steps, very small with fire door overlooking back end of hotel and I think staff quarters? There was no shower only a bath? in this day and age no shower! I had recently had an operation on my leg and found it very difficult to get in and out of the bath with only one had rail on the wall non on the bath? Also at a funny angle in the corner of the room. We don't know why they changed our room number? Can only think that the people who had originaly been given this room refused it so they gave it to us! We decided not to complain it was only for 1 night. That was a big mistake! On getting back to hotel after visiting the bars at about 12am, we noticed that the curtains wouldn't close they were like to strips of cloth? So we knew we would be woken up by the light at about 5am! But the worse was yet to come Seagulls! loads of them on the roof of our room 4th floor. They squawked all night the noise they make is awful it sounded like screaming so we got no sleep at all! If you do go to this hotel don't have a room on the top floor or room 462. I would go back to this hotel but it would have to be on a lower floor with a shower! The hotel could do with some up-dating but this would then increase the price? And again for the trip we got including visits to other areas on the way home we had a great time!
