“An excellent B&B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

Stayed here for a mid-week break with our dog whilst visiting relatives, on recommendation from some friends - we like to escape from having to visit too much when we feel like it so staying somewhere else gives you the excuse! LOL! It was rainy when we were there so we made use of the conservatory to read, and the dog was allowed in with us. Breakfast was really nice, and the veggie option was right up my street. The breakfast room is stunning!! The room was comfy, and had a nice view towards the hill behind the building. We were on the back of the house so it was really quiet - no street noise. There isn't any parking but we found somewhere close by both days we stayed so it wasn't a problem and the car was fine. I would be a bit dubious of leaving it away from where I was staying in some areas but Llandudno is quite a peaceful little town. There are good shops in the town and we ate at a lovely restaurant with family called The Seahorse - the fishcakes are to die for! They seem to get very busy so book ahead if you are planning a visit. Overall, really enjoyed the Chelsea and Llandudno, the service was excellent and it was lovely and comfy with everything you would expect from a modern B&B.

Room Tip: We booked room 5, one of the four-posters and booking direct landed us a discount - bonus!!

Cant believe this place is still open.... we booked for the one night, and tried to cancel four days before the booked date, the landlady refused saying she'd altered her booking rules. We turned up anyway, save wasting the money, and to have a pleasent evening away from the hustle & bustle. we were not expecting what we found. The landlady opened the door and was fairly pleasent untill she realised who we were, and was then quite rude. On entering, the smell immediately hit us, it was the stink of cigarette, musty old house and wet dogs. The eating area again smelled of 'Old peoples home' and dog hairs are visible on the carpet and the tables. The Sun lounge looked reminisant of Gods waiting room .The hall way is dark dank dusty and uninviting. on the landing of our room were a collection of household objects that had not been put away. on entering our room our jaws nearly dropped, its clear the photo of the room is many years old. The furniture is a mish mash of auction house one offs, nothing matched. the room was dusty and dirty (apart from maybe the carpet that looked as if it might have had a quick once over with the vacuum).the windows were filthy and looked out onto a derelict house/building site, the shower had black mold and the curtains and nets reaked of not being cleaned for several years. The bed spread smelt the same, this was obviously not cleaned at all, the rest of the bedding appeared ok apart fro it being an old style eiderdown as opposed to a quilt, The mattress was stained with heaven knows what. The toilet had obviously been used prior to our arrival. You could have written your name in the dust in bedside table. We went down stairs to ask for another room, the landlady burst a bloodvessle i temper, when i answered her question what we didnt like about it. She told me it was probably luxery to me because i look like 'council estate scum' that lives in a hovel. This was clearly getting out of hand and she pushed us towards the front door screaming for us to get out, a member of staff close behind her dragging our suitcase, i really should have called the police. On the front doorstep, my wife close to tears and i very upset at such customer service demanded our money back,.. She bellowed it would be put back on our Debit card, the door slammed in our faces, walking back to our car a neighbouring Land lord laughed saying it was a regular thing, and she was the local joke in hoteling... Or money has not been returned at all. I made a phonecall where yet again her temper erupted, she said as we werent happy it was her right to keep the money. (Thats theiving in my book).. so if you are happy putting up with the smell, the tantrums and the very poor class of hotel then this maybe for you. If you are willing to risk your money then it maybe for you... but for everybody else it relly is the worst place we've ever been to, i can not comment on the breakfast but without doubt would not have eaten from a place with such low hygine standards... Please please check out the many other hotels in this area, (many of which we have stayed in without a problem).. or you will think back to ths review and think to yourself 'i should of listened to that council estate scum... Just returned from a superb weekend at The Chelsea Hotel. Cannot fault the service. We were met at the door by Rebecca who helped us with our bags up to our room (room 5, very clean, comfy bed, boss view of the Great Orme) We met Jean next morning at breakfast, lovely lady, very helpful, full of advice about Llandudno, walks and day trips. Breakfast was beautiful, could not fault if you tried. Lovely old chapel that is the dining area as well. Lovely hotel run by lovely people, we'll deffo be coming back.

I and my partner on spec looked for a pet friendly B&B so I could take our 12 year old Papillion Ty and I came across this gem.
Phoned 11am for a 2 day stay and was in the room by 3pm.
Pets very much welcome. Run by mother and daughter they are very friendly and made us both feel very welcome. Some rules but as I was going into someone else’s house they were very fair, no smoking and please don’t leave your pet in the room unattended.
The room we were given was a very nice what I would call a “Victorian period room” which had a views along the road to the sea, my partner loved the room. It was very spacious, bright and clean. Morning breakfast was very good in the Masonic Chapel attached to the house. When we arrived we were told of venues we could eat at that dogs were allowed in, The Victoria along the road and the Kings head by the tram station. We were sceptical about being allowed dogs into eating establishments but they did and we enjoyed some good cooking there.
As for Ty we took our feeding bowl, water bowl and a towel to put them on in the room where he could eat & drink. The main part of the day was spent out around the town or on the Great Orme.
we most definitely will return.

Room Tip: “Victorian period room”

Really enjoyed our stay. Quiet hotel, run by lovely people who made us feel very welcome. Room was very clean and tidy and breakfast was excellent. The owners were very friendly. Gave us lots of advice about local walks etc. most of which we wouldn't have found without the aid of local knowledge. Made our stay that much better. Thank you.
