Stayed here on 9th Oct 2013 after watching a gig in Rhyl. Generally clean and tidy. Windows are old and draughty, glad it wasn't cold outside or I would have been freezing! Bathroom spotless, hotel generally clean but needs a good spring clean like around room edges and under beds and furniture. The Decor (which is quite shabby in places, peeling paper, shabby peeling window frames, stained paintwork) and hotel are very dated but I quite liked that, felt like i was in a Miss Marple episode. The owner is odd/quirky but not rude or horrible. The dog taking up a whole bench seat in the bar put us off using the hotel bar. Location is brilliant because of the views, not for the unfit, disabled or faint hearted as its at the top of an enormous hill. Breakfast was nice. Bed comfy and clean. I am a terrible sleeper but it was very quiet here and slept fine. We won a 3 night stay here so can't complain for free. If I had to pay I would begrudge paying their prices. Also no bottled water in the room and cheap toiletries. This review sounds like a complaint but it really isn't. Bad things - needs thorough cleaning not basic once over, dog needs moving from the bar, it puts people off, need water in rooms, decor needs touching up in places, manager needs to be less stand offish Basil Fawlty and more...Stayed here on 9th Oct 2013 after watching a gig in Rhyl. Good things - nice Oldy worldy feel to it, fantastic views (room 24), lovely quiet hotel - no noisy yobs or hen/stag parties, comfy bed, spotless bathroom, nice cooked breakfast, dog friendly. Would I stay again, yes but I do think it's over priced. More
