“Late summer break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Grand hotel Llandudno, hotel staff very helpfull and can`t do enough for you, even though the hotel desperately requires full refurbishment we found it very clean. Resturant staff and food excellent. Great base to stay when exploring Snowdonia, looking forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: Book a premier room and your guaranteed a room with a sea view.

There really is nothing grand about this hotel I have stayed at most of Brittannia hotels this has to be the worst The rooms are in a terrible state the fith floor had no heating the room was damp ( sky light leaked ) the lifts to all floors couldn't cope with the amount of guests meal times were like being back at school basically the whole building needs complete refurbishing

Just returned home from the Grand here is my review.
Pros: Staff lovely, sheets clean and good position.
Cons: Room tiny, booked a double room and it had a double and single bed in it. Very very old fashioned and room was not as photos, windows filthy, shower cubicle with dirty grouting, toilet leaned to one side. Furniture from 50s. Room was on a road and people walking up to the orm could see into our room as it had no nets on window. Booked because the website stated entertainment, when we checked in room no entertainment as it was booked for a private party. Floorboards creaked everywere and was very annoying to hear. Breakfast was self service. We had to put a teabag in a teapot and put water from an urn in it and coffee was from a flask! Breakfast was buffet style, i wanted cereal but when i went to put sugar on, it was in a big tray with a ladel as a spoon!
Hotel could be lovely if it was modenised until then i won't be returning.

Room Tip: Stay somewere else

Last week we enjoyed a 5 day break with national hoildays at the grand hotel in llandudno the room we were allocated 321 was very basic and had quite a lot of dampness in the ceiling but the beds were clean and comfortable. The meals were ok and the cateing staff were very friendly. We enjoyed the excursions and fortunately the weather was fine and we enjoyed the company of our driver Derek who had a great sense of humour. all in all this trip was decent value for money and we hope to return again in the near future.

Stayed for one night and that was too much! room was so small that when you opened the door you almost fell on the bed. The shower cubicle was tiny and my husband who is six foot four really struggled. The whole place could have been cleaner, the windows looked as if they hadn't seen soap and water for years...... Breakfast was greasy and of poor quality and I'm not hard to please. Be aware that if you do decide to stay here there is no car park and trying to find a parking space is very stressful. You will get no help from the hotel regarding this. This was a last minute deal booked on the internet and you get what you pay for, but you still expect certain standards. I personally would never return here even if it was free of charge! This is an honest review. Please be warned.

We booked 2 superior rooms for Monday 27 Aug for 5 days. Apparently a superior room is one with a seaview. The room was very drab. Eventually we were upgraded to a Premier room. This was even worse, the best part was the seaview. It didnt look as if it had been hoovered in weeks. Behind the taps of the bath was black and there were stains on the skirting board in the room. What was disgraceful was that the people who had Premium rooms had their own restaurant, and the rest were separate. This is discrimination. Outside the lift there were plaster boards and a broken bag of gypsum, all week. Only one lift worked all week, imaking it very difficult for the elderly. The food was good, entertainment poor, unless you liked karaoke evey night. Would we stay there again - no way. It needs a big refurbishment.

Stayed at the hotel for one night on 31st August. Only booked it on the internet a couple of days before. We were very impressed with the hotel, our room was spacious, clean and had a good side view looking towards the promenade and the mountains. Breakfast was varied, hot and plenty of it. The dining room was pleasant and with a decent space between all the tables so you did not feel packed together. We enjoyed our evening meal, again there was variety, something to suit everyone and the buffet style dining was very relaxing and quicker than waitress service. All the staff were polite, and hard working. The entertainment in the ballroom was good. I was impressed with the hotel, and its location and would certainly go back again.
