“Fantastic setting; shame about the standards”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

Love this venue. Great to see this former theatre preserved and to imagine what it would have been like to see some of the people who have performed there in the past on that very stage where you can have a drink and a meal and stand in the footsteps of world famous artists including Gracie Fields. Each time we have been there, both on this visit and on previous visits to Llandudno, it has been very, very, busy and perhaps this is what contributes to some of the poor standards. One of our party was given a glass of Merlot in a glass which had dried food clinging to it and a chip in the rim, which was sharp and possibly harboured germs. When we complained, we were given a replacement glass, but it does undermine confidence in hygiene and health and safety standards that no one spotted it before it came to us. Will come back, but cautious about checking standards.

“Typical spoons, busy, loud, fight for your order!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

It's a beautiful building but all in all it's a typical wetherspoons. my boyfriend took forever to order, he waited there for a good 10-15. when our food came i got chips instead of salad. we sat in the quieter bit, as we didn't want too much noise. All in all average

“Typical Wetherspoons”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

Arrived at about 5pm midweek and found it very busy. Been there before as it gives cheap meal for family of 5.
Pub is very dark, particularly on upper levels. Only 2 tables available, one I found had food scraps underneath; had to clean child seat myself.
Order taken without fuss, staff helpful even when I had to change order. Got back to table and wanted to add to order; this not a problem.
In short, clean as you go and turn the lights up a bit.

“Take Plenty of Money!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

Fish and chips for a family of 4.... We could have gone to the italian or indian for a slap up meal for less money! I won't say how much it was because it hurts inside, then the kids wanted more drinks and puddings!

“Nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

All that we expect from a Wetherspoons pub. Cheap and cheerful with a good atmosphere. Plenty of seating and quite brightly lit inside. We liked that it still had the "feel" of a theatre.
