“Fabulous room”

The Imperial Hotel

Jun 9, 2008

I recently stayed at the Imperial for one night whilst in the area on business. The room that I had was on the top floor and quite simply excellent. It was modern in decor and had the plus of a balcony. My friends enjoyed the Spa. As it was a Saturday the hotel had been taken over by a large and rather noisy wedding party. Good business for the hotel, but not for other guests. Staff at reception and behind the bar were helpful and friendly. Breakfast on the Sunday morning was very good with the option of nice sea views and I must admit that I'd have liked to have stayed for longer.

Good position on seafront.Hotel warm inbedrooms and public areas The staff friendly and helpful.Superb full english breakfast with helpyourself cereals and fruit.En-suitebathroom excellent, with unlimited hot water 24/7.Very well stocked hospitality tray.Free use of computer.
Food over elaborate and too high in fat.Double room too small, carpets could be better cleaned every day, wardrobe too small for two people, insufficent drawer space, suitable for 2 day stay, but not longer, most drawers too shallow.

“One nighter.......”

The Imperial Hotel

Feb 25, 2008

Check in was speedy. Late arrival meant we had no parking so had to park on the seafront. Busy weekend in hotel as there was a Welsh 'Valentines' special running.

We were fortunate to be allocated a newly refurbished room which was very large, comfortable king size bed, extra bedding and pillows in wardrobe. Spacious bathroom, big towels, bathrobes and adequate complementary toilettries.

We had a reasonable dinner in the restaurant and breakfast was delicious. Staff were attentive.

“We understand why it's #20”

The Imperial Hotel

We stayed at the hotel recently as part of our trip through Wales and were grateful that we could get a room there at short notice due to some important family issue. We found the following positives and negatives for our one night stay:-

Positives:-
1) Breakfast was included in the rate - service a bit slow but otherwise fine.
2) The front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
3) The price of the room was about right for a 3 star hotel (this place is absolutely not a 4, despite the depiction on the signage), though the negatives below cause me to think that it wasn't a pleasant stay at all..

Negatives:-
1) Hotel car park is pretty small and we could not get in so had to park on the seafront over night.
2) The room (standard double) wasn't very nice - basic decor, curtains didn't completely close to block out the light, obvious noise from the street, dusty mattress (it kickstarted my dust allergy..), lack of sufficient bedding (the room felt cold while sleeping).
3) The bathrooms were *okay* though the the provided toiletries were insufficient and of poor standard.
4) The maids/cleaning staff began talking loudly just outside our room at 7:45am on Sunday morning and continued to talk for well over 1 hour. This is a big no-no and a serious mark down.

Overall, I can understand why people stay here as Llandudno is mainly about smaller BnBs guest houses and this is more like a large hotel which suits people who want a more private low maintenance stay. However at the moment this hotel just does not deliver some important basics - warm, clean, comfort, quiet. I'd advise looking elsewhere.
