“excellent stay as always”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

I stayed at the Empire with my two daughters for six nights towards the end of July. This was the fourth time we have stayed there in the last three years. As always the stay was enjoyable and we were well looked after. Earlier in the year we stayed in the St. Tudno for one night as we could not get in The Empire. However, this made us appreciate what excellent value for money the Empire is when compared to places like the St. Tudno. On our recent stay here as always we never had any problems parking, the breakfast with a varied choice was looked forward to by my daughters each morning and we used the pool on several occasions. For £10 a night less when compare with the st. tudno the empire is better on all accounts in terms of a better room, better breakfast, a better pool ( the pool at the st. tudno is basically a pool in an outside shed) and guaranteed parking.

This really lived up to my expectations. We went to celebrate the end of a very busy and hard summer term and it was well worth the wait. Very friendly, pleasant and cheerful staff, who couldn't do enough to make our stay easy and relaxed. We booked the Sunday special, comprising of Sunday evening meal, bed and full English breakfast. The rooms were clean and the bedding crisp and white, (as you have probably gathered bedding is very important to me!) v. comfy indeed, en-suite was a proper room with excellent décor. I was amazed at the standard of cuisine and the vibrancy of the restaurant. The pool and sauna facilities were excellent. We stayed for the whole of Monday too as we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel, without any fuss.
It represents excellent value for money and I will definitely go back, introducing it to my partner next time, as I understand they do a week-end special that includes Sunday dinner.
We had an amazing climb up the Orme, which offered superb sea views and a range of wild flowers.
Llandudno itself is quaint, great for bargains, I would go back, there are many places to see nearby too and lots to do.
A must for a week-end away from it all.
Thank-you for making our stay so welcoming and relaxing!
xx

Room Tip: Corner rooms are roomy and have excellent views.

The very fortunate thing about this hotel is that they have managed to find a brilliant webmaster; the photos on the website look phenomenal. Unfortunately, the reality is slightly different in that, whilst the staff are generally very friendly, the hardware is a little long in the teeth. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated (if you like the Victoriana style - and loads of light bulbs) but our room's (room 26) air-conditioning system was broken and, notwithstanding the fact that I asked for it to be looked at on three separate occasions, the problem wasn't rectified to our satisfaction. I am aware that there were attempts to resolve the problem; it was just unfortunate that we spent three evenings in a row sweating profusely during three of the hottest days of the summer. The beds, it has to be said, are of a high quality as is the bed linen all of which makes for a good night's sleep. That said, the leather chairs in the communal areas could do with an overhaul as could the communal outdoor splash pool (which is in need of some serious TLC). It's also a matter of taste, but all of the breasts on display through the nude art prints are a bit on the naff side imho. One tip - if you have heavy bags and have to make an appointment, press the lift button about 5 minutes before you need to leave as the elevator is very small and very, very slow. OK hotel if youre not expecting too much; my advice is to look at the website with a healthy dose of objectively...

Staff are warm and friendly. Rooms are clean and tidy. Stayed in room 41 and had great view of the town town and a sea view. Breakfast was good. Only downside was the spa, as the water was a bit too cold. Other than that had a great couple of days and would recommend it to anyone wishing to vist Llandudno.

One night away in this sumptuous hotel, £112 for the two is, included dinner, breakfast and free use of amenities great pool, sauna gym etc.Lovely rooms.
Okay the cliental on the prom was a bit eye watering, blue rinse brigade and the usual beer bellies out, staffy dogs, 10 kids in tow but they disappear after 5pm. A few nice pubs nearby. All in all a pleasant stay. One down side drinks are v.expensive in the hotel.

Room Tip: Don't drink in the bar hotel expensive drinks. Take the kids crab lines.

We try to have a short break here annually due to the wonderful location, fabulous amenities and the fine dining experience which make for a truly relaxing break. The roof top pool is a joy to behold and we've spent many a relaxing afternoon reading there.

My concern this time around is the ultra fast service of food. I do remember it being swift in the past but never this fast. My husband was eating cereal when his fried breakfast arrived. Nevertheless the waiter placed it in front of him oblivious to his concerns and the fact he had to move his bowl to allow the waiter to put the plate down. When I returned to the table with my own cereal, I asked the waiter to remove the breakfasts as we were still eating cereal. He did so without hesitation. On return to the table the hash browns were rather overdone but we lived with that as the rest of the breakfast was wonderful.

The evening meals were also very rushed. Practically as soon as ordered, the starters arrived, very swiftly followed by the main. We like a gap between courses and told the waiters that, the following evening. This was understood and an acceptable gap between courses was then given. I could understand a rush if we were late to dinner but there's no excuse really when its 7.15pm ish. That said, the food was superb each evening, cooked to perfection and Sunday lunch was amazing. Compliments to the chef(s) and to the harpist who made our lunch an unforgettable experience. Very relaxing and we could have listened for much longer!

I can thoroughly recommend the ambience of this hotel and will definately be returning.
