We visited as a group of five and received a warm welcome and were shown to our pre-booked table. Although not full, the place was busy enough for 8 o'clock on a weekday evening in March, so probably best to book.
The decor is attractive, creating a pleasant atmosphere, and the service is attentive and efficient while friendly. The waitresses waited patiently for everyone to make their menu choices from a good selection ranging from hot snack staples like baked jacket potatoes with fillings to larger main courses such as mixed grill. There are even roast dinners offered, and two of us tried these, one turkey and one lamb. Both tasted good, coming with accompaniments (my only criticism being the bread sauce, which was unpleasant in taste and texture). There was also a great selection of vegetables - roast and new potatoes, broccoli, beans, carrots.
Everyone really enjoyed their main courses and the men appreciated the selection of local real ales on offer. We were too full to sample any desserts, but those we saw being carried past to other tables looked very attractive. Service was good, with glasses being cleared away frequently.
We'd definitely return to try other menu items, either for dinner or for lunch. There's plenty of choice!
