We arrived to a very warm welcome by Hugh at a very smart reception desk. The lounges and bedrooms were somewhat reminiscent of seaside guesthouses from my childhood but everywhere was spotless and service throughout was brilliant. The dining room was a real surprise, with modern furniture and beautifully laid tables. The food too was far superior to 'seaside guesthouse' expectations - beautifully presented and tasty. Nothing was lacking at breakfast time - it would have been difficult to find anything missing from the extensive menu.
For my husband, the final icing on the cake was the speaker/charger for his iphone in the bedroom so we could both hear his music/podcasts.
It was a refreshing change to visit a privately run hotel - the fact that they're still in business after 10 years running it indicates that Joanne and her team are getting it right. We hope to return.
