Good value for money here but basic rooms.

I struggle with Eastbourne hotels as they all seem much older and not modern by any means.

Hotel needs to be modernised in my view.

Not good for disabled customers and sadly no dinner as reservations were required.

Nice small bar - room was clean.

Wouldnt stay again.

Personaly a 2 star from my travelling experience.

For a number of years now my staff christmas bash has been held at the Chatsowrh Hotel in Eastbourne and this year was no different. We all enjoyed our meals. i chose a superb seafood (prawn and salmon) starter followed by a delicious soup (leak and potato), main course( traditional xmas fayre) , with dessert (cheesecake, my husband had cheese and biscuits) and coffee and mints to finish. There were a few menu choices to decide from and all the people at my table thoroughly enjoyed their choices and agreed that taste and portion sizes were all spot on. The serving team were pleasant, quick to respond to special requests (my husband wanted more potatoes and was brought some with a smile), and they left just the right amount of time between courses so that we didn't have to wait too long or be rushed through our meal.Bar prices were surprisingly cheaper than our local pub with pump favoutites in cider and lagers available. mt friend was DES (designated driver) for the evening and wanted only water. The bar staff served her FREE tap water over ice, served with a slice of lemon all night and not once made a negative comment or were unpleasant at that fact that her drinks were free; an absolute delight for her as she has suffered many a withering gaze in other local establishments. The function was laid out beautifully with all festive decor , there were crackers on the tables for everyone too, believe it or not we did go to a local establishment one year that despite advertising a xmas menu displaed no signs of festive fun at all. The disco provided was good and requests were accepted and delivered by a pleasant happy DJ, again not something you can get everywhere. If you are looking for somewhere to book for your event then you wont be dissapointed with here.

We attended for our social club christmas dinner dance, about 47 people. Whilst the staff tried hard, the bar could not cope with the number of customers ( only 2 staff) and there was certainly not enough seating.
The starter we had was excellent, smoked salmon parcels, but both our mains (turkey and lamb) were not freshly cooked and obviously bought in and reheated. I also had part of my course missing. Xmas pudd was sparse and another stodgy bought-in course. However my wife's cheesecake was good.
Looking at other reviews, I am glad we chose to stay at a different hotel!

As regulars to Eastbourne, we have always wanted to stay there and this trip was the perfect opportunity. We were given room 7. Well, what can I say :-). It was huge, I have lived in smaller flats. We didn't dine there apart from the breakfast which was included in the price. We were very impressed with the accommodation, the staff also excelled in their attentiveness & service.

Yes its a bit tired, but it is Victorian architecture & def better than 3 star, closer to 4.

Room Tip: Room 7 is huge

To be honest, The Chatsworth is a bit better than a 3 star hotel but not quite a 4 star experience either. The staff are great - helpful, cheerful and hard working. The location is good too, a short walk into town for shopping and restaurants and near all the bus routes too. Our room (a twin) was fine - a good size, a side view onto the sea, the beds comfortable, and quite recently refurbished. However, the public areas of the hotel look a little tired and the styling is, frankly bizarre. The morning breakfast was fine and the kitchen coped very well (it was a full house) and the waiting staff were admirable.

I booked a long weekend at the Chatsworth for my mother as a birthday surprise. On arrival the Manager and staff were warm and friendly and made us feel very welcome. This continued for the whole of our stay - the service provided was of a very high quality . Our room was clean and bright. Although the shower room was a little snug it was to be fair spotlessly clean. The bed linen was very white and the towels soft. We were spoilt for choice at breakfast each morning. The portion sizes were large and the quality excellent. This little gem of a hotel is in a great location and offers great value for money. We intend to book again for a longer stay next spring

Room Tip: Ask for a Sea view on the 3rd or 4th floors
