“Idyllic holiday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

A truly breathtaking experience! Combined holiday for my brothers wedding and my wedding anniversary a double celebration
nothing was too much trouble for the staff, all were so polite and kind and helpful
Salon did my hair and make up and was stunning , everybody said.
Pools were all lovely, clean and quiet.
Food and drinks were quite expensive but happy hour was good value!
Had leg massage which was absolutely phenomenal, again, quite expensive as was charged US Dollars not Barbados Dollars- something this hotel tended to swap and change quite often?
Tourist charge added daily, big rip off and we weren't informed this was going to happen, or that it was discretionary and could have been taken off?
Sea activities free and fantastic experience
Room changed due to water leak, immediate relocation and even replaced everything and removed to new room.
Champagne left as surprise anniversary gift
A truly magical pampering experience along with a fantastic wedding plan which we will never forget!
We definitely will be returning, oh, and terrible mosquito bites worst I've ever had!

Room Tip: Sea view room, view was totally out of this world!

We stayed at the Tamarind for 10 days from the 12/8-22/8, I had done loads of research on different parts of Barbados and had been told the West Coast would be better due to the calmer waters and quieter nightlife(We have an 8yr, so looking for "nightlife" was not an option), on recommendation from a repeat visitor I started to look at this Hotel and came to the conclusion that this was the "Place" for us, I really thought, after looking at all the pictures and reading the reviews, that it couldn't be as good as it sounded...how wrong I was, this Hotel sits on a wonderful beach, with wonderfully hard working, very courteous staff. The A/C was a welcome respite during the mid-day heat. Ice cold aromatic flannels and fresh fruit kebabs in the morning and fruit ice lollies in the afternoon, turn down service at night, along with a bottle of water for all guests every night. The breakfast buffet caters for all tastes-Bacon,eggs(some days scrambled, some days benedict), corn beef hash, local fish dish, pancakes, french toast, crepes, beans etc, fresh fruit, plain and fruit yogurts, fruit compote, muesli, croissants, banana bread, danish pastries, fruit juice and cereal as well as an omelette station!! The grounds are beautifully kept and there's always someone pruning/cutting/tending to the flowers/trees. The Beach Ambassadors aren't always pressurizing you to buy drinks, they tend to get a "feel" for how many times you might want a beverage(or two!!), there's a shop on-site to buy chocs, crisps, gifts, postcards/stamps/ toys, (reception will post your postcards for you). A petrol station across the rd sells Whole/slices of freshly cooked pizza, hot dog type rolls, beer etc. There's also a "Roti Den" 2 minutes walk away which serves lovely food at a reasonable price. We went snorkeling in the bay and saw turtles and lovely coloured fish just yards from the shore, even though there was quite a few "Turtle boats" sitting in the bay. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel and its lovely staff, from Paul at Breakfast to Melissa the Beach Ambassador, and the girls that ran the kids club. This hotel lived up to all the reviews i had previously read/researched.We could not of asked for more in a hotel,we had a fantastic stay at the Tamarind and booking here you will not be disappointed. An excellent experience.

I went here for my honeymoon. The hotel was beautiful and well maintained. The restaurants on site were very good. No complaints about the food other than issues with the steak (Too well done twice on two different nights) but once they fixed the mistake it was good. The food at the breakfast buffet was very good never had an issue with finding something to eat. If you are looking for a quiet time with your family I would recommend this hotel. If you are looking for a party I would stay on the other side of the island. The hotel offers themed nights but not the kind you get on other islands. It's nice that they offer to make reservations for you at other restaurants off site. It made it more convenient for us. There are 3 pools and all were beautiful but over run by kids and not make lounging chairs with shade. We went on the off season and it was hard to get a chair in the shade at any of the pools and the Adults only pool had no shade or umbrellas of any sort. We didn't go to it ever because of that reason and trust me we wanted to. The hotel had a ton of kids and they were everywhere. So if you want shade you need to go early and leave your towel on the chairs with umbrellas. It was nice that they had bins for towels if you wanted a new one you just went and took it from the bins around the resort. They also offer your cold towels and popsicles if you are sitting on the beach or by the pool in the afternoon. The water sports were a huge plus they offered everything for free. It wasn't the easiest to get reservations for the water skiing but you can book it a day in advance. They also have guys not from the resort that rent Jet Skis and other things that the hotel doesn't offer. We rented Jet Skis Make sure you bargain with them. The staff was nice but not as friendly as other places I've been to they more keep to themselves unless you ask them questions. The hotel was generally dead after 11-12 am and the bar closes around midnight.

One thing I didn't like was that they don't tell you about any of the local events going on. We were there during Crop Over and had to find everything out on our own. Also the Cabs were more expensive from the hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room with a garden or ocean view.

We recently spent 6 nights at the Tamarind with our 3 children, ages 17, 20 and 23, along with my parents and other family members for our nephews destination wedding. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. We have never experienced such nice, warm, helpful staff at any hotel we have ever stayed at. They couldn't do enough for you! Marcia and her staff were wonderful - greeting us every day by our names and always asking if everything was ok. Whatever you needed, they were there immediately! My son asked for some plain bagels one day and not only did the breakfast person find the bagels in the kitchen, but she new he liked them toasted and then brought them to our table!

The rooms are delightful - one downfall is that the bathrooms have no a/c and they were hot! Also, there are no elevators so make sure if you have young children or older parents with you that you get a ground floor room!!! They should suggest that to you when you make a reservation! Other than that the beds were great along with the balcony overlooking the ocean! The breakfast included was fantastic!! We enjoyed that everyday!!! The lunch and dinners were a little pricey, but they give you so much food that we started to share meals!

Try Zaccios restaurant and Daphnes restaurant - great food and also great staff!!
You must use Earl's Taxi Service - the nicest guy ever! On time, helped us in and out of the van and was just a really personable guy!! 1(246)233-5009 or scratch95@live.com - book him for all your transfers and excursions!!

We also went to Harrisons Cave - a must see in Barbados!!!

My only negative about the hotel in August would be that it was very quiet and my 2 children were looking for a little more nightlife! But they survived and we all had a wonderful time! Would definitely return to the Tamarind!!!

Really lovely hotel in a lovely setting. The water sports activities were excellent and all included in the stay. You were able to book to water ski (with free tuition), sailing, rubber ring and banana boat rides, snorkelling. All you had to do was book slots on a daily first come first served basis. The pools were so warm and the hotel was beautifully laid out and small enough to feel personal and far removed from a package holiday type hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. Evening meals are quite expensive but good quality.
I would definitely recommend it.

Overall an excellent choice. The hotel is in the perfect location - right on the beach and with the combination of 3 pools and a wide beachfront you are never pushed for space. The hotel itself is in fine condition and it is clear the staff take great pride in everything they do. The food at breakfast and in the resturant was very good, indeed the Angus tenderloin was exceptional - a real carnivore's treat. The room was as described and very comfortable, and always well cleaned. The location is great for getting out and about and exploring with several other good restaurants near by. All in a great choice if you are visiting the island.

We had a fabulous holiday at the Tamarind and could fault nothing. The staff are really what make this such a great experience.,special thanks to Safiah, and Marcia who went out of their way to make our holiday special. The cold towels each day were heaven and the ice Lolly's a lovely treat in the heat of the afternoon. The water sports guys were fab as well and so helpful. The snorkelling off the beach is superb, you don't realise how many different fish are so close to the beach. Our room was 329 and was a perfect size for two, from the two showers to the double wardrobe and double sinks. The bed was massive and the views from the balcony were right over the beach. If you are looking for a little romance I highly recommend that you book the private meal for two on the beach, it is so romantic with the table set under a white gazebo and candles on the steps leading down to the beach. The restaurant food is as good as any of the local ones like Daphne's, if you have any doubts put them out of your mind and book here.we had high expectations of this holiday and they were more than exceeded.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view you won't be disappointed.
