“Be treated like absolute Royalty here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

Like a lot of other Australians - we purchased a 5-night package at Mai Samui - this is a nice amount of time to spend on the Island. we were part of a group of 7 family members - so we booked 3 rooms.

The Resort is located on the quieter West Coast of Samui - which isn't a drama - it's actually really nice to come back to the Resort after a crazy busy day out at Chewang and BoPhut. Mai Samui is a real Oasis of tranquility and calm - set in an old Coconut Palm plantation - its all very picturesque as an Island Holiday should be.

When you are first met at the Airport by their minivan (You have to email them to organise this as an optional extra) they meet you with cold water and icy cold towels as a welcome. Our greater was Cathrine - she greeted us, made sure all our bags were loaded up and she gave us all the information we needed on our way to the resort.

We arrived at the Resort, provided another welcome drink and towel and were checked into and personally shown to our rooms. The rooms are absolutley beautiful - modern and with a tropical feel. The outdoor patio bath was pre filled for us and had flower petals floating - a beautiful sight.

Our rooms were all in Blocks "A" and "B" which im thinking are great rooms to be in - within the main part of the resort, with partial ocean views - nice.

The restaurants and bars within the resort are realistic in price, and Happy hour a couple of times a day - so you're always sure to be able to get some great drinks at the swim up bar.

We ate at their Beach BBQ, also at the Mai Pub, and the Breakfast Buffet - all beautiful food. Our Massages at the spa were also great and relaxing.

We didnt even swim in the ocean at all our whole time in Samui - the ocean is very salty and not refreshingly cool - so we opted for the amazing pool at Mai Samui instead.

All in all - we loved Mai Samui and will def. return again.

here are a few tips:
Great Tailor just down the road - his name is "Sanyak" - 3 piece Wool/Cashmere suit for about $120 AUD. Just allow enough time for fittings.
Nice little general store / shop next door to the tailor - can get great massages here as well as hire a car or bike
Make sure you spend some time at the resort - its absolutley beautiful

Special mention to a few staff who made our stay very special at the Resort : "Catherine" at Reception (always so helpful). "Sanyak" our Porter and Concierge - ALWAYS a Friendly face to welcome us. and our mate "Joven" who really served us so well for the 5 days, nothing is too much trouble for Jo - he will treat you like absolute royalty.

Mai Samui - the BEST place we have ever stayed.

Room Tip: Buildings "A" and "B" are the go.

No kidding this is the most amazing hotel I have ever seen or stayed at. I couldn't say enough. My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and wished we had booked for more. The hotel itself is creative in design and luxurious to the max. The pictures online do not do this hotel justice, it is even better in real life. The service was also a 10! I wanted to do something special on my anniversary for my wife. The staff came together to help me put on a dinner on the beach. While we ate they set up our room with roses. It was an incredible experience! I am also a chef and this food is top notch! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Pay the extra to have a room that walks into the pool

Very nice hotel and pool area. Service is fantastic and staff is always happy to help. The pool area and it's surrounds are magic and so is the breakfast buffet.
The positives outweighs the negatives however here they are,the beach is not good at all, there is not really any walking distance to cheap food......
If you are after peace and quiet and and luxury this hotel is for you!

My partner and I absolutely loved staying at this beautiful resort we stayed for 7 nights. This was the first time staying in Koh Samui and we weren’t sure what to expect everything is so lovely there and the people are so friendly. The resort is exactly what the photo's look like on the website. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming and the view of the beach from the pool is just amazing. Really enjoyed having banquet dinner's on the beach each night would recommend this resort to everyone. My partner and I will defiantly stay there again and are looking forward to planning our next trip there.

Thank you Mai Samui Resort for making our holiday one to remember!!

We spent five wonderful days at the Mai Samui Resort recently. The pool is absolutely fantastic and the staff are all so professional and friendly, especially the ladies in the day spa. The beach is a disappointing, but the pool makes up for it. It was very peaceful and if you're looking for a place to get away from the hustle and bustle this is it..

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are great..

We had a rocky start to our holiday missing our flight from Bangkok to Samui. Upon notifying the staff that we would not be arriving that night as planned they were very helpful & lovely. Although we still were charged for the extra night stay.

Check in did take a little long with only 2 people at the desk.

We stayed in a basic room at the rear of the hotel, D101 which was lovely! Big room, great big stone bath with visors which could be opened to look onto the pool area. Glass sliding door which opened onto small but sufficient balcony including day bed with table & chair.

There are two pools. One near our room (rear side of resort) and one which flowed the entire length of the front of the resort (which was gorgeous!) unfortunately our pool bar was not staffed at all during our stay which meant we had to do the big trek to the big pool if we wanted drinks/food poolside.

The staff were absolutely brilliant & lovely at all times.

We treated ourselves to 2 spa packages & were sooo impressed! Very affordable & amazing masseuse! (I wish I got her name!)

Resort prices are quite high as you are a bit of a captive Market but the cocktails are delicious & the food is amazing!! Spicy crab salad was to die for!!!

Free shuttle service is a bit of a let down, with hourly commutes to Chaweeng up until only 1:30 which are usually booked out, meaning you have to pay 1000bht for a private car, and about 450-800bht return in a cab (depending on the time)

We are 100% positive we had 1000bht taken from my husbands wallet in our room, but did not raise this with the staff as our sliding door was left open, so could not be sure if it were a guest/staff. However we had our laptop out & that wasnt touched? Either way, our fault.

The buffet dinners on the beach looked really popular & had great options. The Mai restaurant (/pub but there was nothing pub about it) served great dishes. The fine dining restaurant (elevated) was not worth the extra money & I'm sure you're paying for the view only)

Thai cooking class felt very staged with photos for every dish etc & I didn't learn as much as I did the last time I did it through a private company in Samui, however you leave with an amazing recipe book to take home & try so I'm really looking forward to trying that out back home!

The beach is not the best, definitely not swimmable, but fine for someone like me who prefers to be poolside.

Would definitely return again, my only real concern is the cost associated in leaving the resort.
