“Will definitely be back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

My wife and I stayed in a pool connect villa, with our son in a garden superior room. The accommodation was great, well appointed, clean with all facilities functioning fine.
The resort is quiet and relaxing with good on site restaurant and pool bar. Plenty of food outlets within five minutes travel in Nathon.
The staff are friendly and helpful, although at times communication can be a bit difficult, we tend to forget english is not spoken by all, they go out of their way to make you welcome.
Wonderfully place if you are looking for a relaxing time in the sun.
Dispute all the warning would recommend hiring a scooter to see the island.

Room Tip: I would tend to o for the pool connect or garden rooms, if you want to spoil yourself, go for the be...

My wife and I stayed in one of the beachfront villas with a private pool. The room and pool were beautiful, with a little gate leading directly onto the beach; which was also kept spotless.
At the far end of the beach is the Four Seasons Resort which we walked to; the beach there was not so well kept and their accomodation did not look as good as our villa......I was very pleased we chose The Passage!
The cocktails at happy hour in the hotel are good and great value. The Thai food in the restaurant and for room service was good; our experience with their Western food (steaks) was not so great.
Overall we would happily return.

Excellent stay back in March, we were a group of 26 staying at the passage before our wedding. Massive thank you to Chan for all his assistance, he was amazing. Love the happy hour, cocktails were all made perfectly and were delicous! We had both young and old staying with us, everyone had a great time. We stayed in a garden villa, absolutely beautiful, looks just like on the website. One tip, if you don't feel like eating at the resort, head out onto the beach and go right up the beach, you'll find this great little shack place, amazing food and drink, very very cheap! It's just past the Mai samui resort next door. We had clothes made out the front at the tailors, all the girls coming to my wedding got their hair done at the little beauty/massage salon out the front, they did an amazing job! Don't need to worry about going shopping in town, every now and then someone will come along the beach to sell you their wares. Very very relaxing at the passage, we are definitely keen to go back. The only constructive criticism would be please get the decking around the bar pool back up to scratch, it's such an amazing area.

Since the day my husband and I arrived, we have been thoroughly impressed with all aspects of this hotel. The service was impeccable. From the front management staff to the happy hour bartender, every single person has been friendly and attentive. Also, we can't say enough good things about the dining staff, especially Chan! Any guest can tell that the employees are passionate about what they do and truly love to care for the patrons and their happiness while here.

Next, the location was perfect for us. We came for an escape from the business of work and city life in the states and although the Passage is not in the 'hot spot' of nightlife, they are very accommodating for travels - renting a car or scooter, providing a shuttle, etc. This is the perfect place for people who want to escape, but still have access to the conveniences of a busy city. It is quiet and peaceful and we both really appreciated that.

Overall, I would highly recommend The Passage for those wanting to come to Koh Samui for a real vacation that includes some pampering, tranquility and high quality service.

Find Chan and make him your friend :)

The Passage in Koh Samui is a treat for people who are tired and stressed out. The tranquil beach, the delightful pool and the room with enchanting interiors with bathrooms that give the air of being outdoors. What more a jaded traveler could ask for. The two-hour ferry ride sets the tone for your blissful vacation in this beautiful hotel. It is one of the best that the island has to offer. What's more it comes with good selection of breakfast, complimentary water, tea coffee making facilities. Stretch out on the beach and let the good times roll!

Many thanks to Teara for her quick response to our queries and a welcoming nature!

Room Tip: We were in Garden Villa and were very happy with it.

This was not only our first visit to Koh Samui but also our first official vacation. Everything was perfect from having a shuttle ride from the airport after landing on the island to the last day when we checked out =[[. We did not want to leave. To describe our stay in detail starting from the first day we were greeted friendly with the signature passage resort bracelet and cold sappon wood drink along with their traditional thai greeting making us feel welcome. Since our flight arrived earlier than our check-in time, to get us out of the heat, the staff arranged for us to relax in a different room until our pool connect villa was ready. To us this was a very considerate gesture since it was not their fault for us arriving earlier than expected. They even got our pool connect villa ready earlier, Jina (front office manager) came and got us when it was ready, and not only helped us with our luggage but also showed us how everything worked in the room so we can get settled in faster. As the days went on, us feeling welcome, their hospitality and convenient service continued and it only got better the longer we stayed there (our stay was for 10 days). We love the fact that breakfast is included in your stay and it is a buffet breakfast. The fact of it being offered from 0630 to 1030 in the morning is amazing because it gives you time to not only make breakfast, but it accommodates individuals who not only wake up early but also those who might not be a morning person and tend to eat more of a later breakfast. The variety was great and it was really fresh not a simple "continental breakfast" and the attention to detail put into all of the food provided was great. The staff are constantly making sure tables and the food area stayed clean and that the food in the pans stayed full for the next guest to be able to eat. The egg stand was some of the best eggs we've ever had and it amazed me how even an omelet with everything was still so light and not heavy feeling; we just loved the freshness of the ingredients and always having fresh fruit and vegetables made our day. The morning staff made our day even better. O, Tane, and Noay were always making sure we had what we needed and promptly made our tea and put it at the table we wanted to sit at so when we were done making our plates our tea and place mats where there for us. Room service was fast and that didn't take away from the quality of the food which was amazing. Whether we ate in the room or out by they pool either at our reserved seating by our pool connect villa or at the tables by the bar, the food and drinks were always delicious and the drinks were some of the best drinks we've ever had. Sitting at the bar was one of the best experiences of the trip because two of our favorite bartenders Ying and Noay always made it a very enjoyable happy hour. They even made a few drink substitutions for us if we wanted to try something different that was not on the happy hour menu. They as well as the cashier Om also was nice enough to teach us Thai and they were very pleased with the fact of us wanting to learn their language as well because it bothers us how no one seems to appreciate the fact that they are trying to learn English to better accommodate their customers (we feel that everyone coming here should show initiative to learn Thai even if it is just the basic greetings like good morning or thank you etc because we have read a few of the reviews complaining about the English and language barriers. Honestly, some of the comments regarding the workers English are slightly naive in our opinion because majority of the people we have seen visit this resort arent even American they are also from different countries and speak different languages as well. You need to remember that you are traveling to a different country where English is NOT their first language so you shouldnt expect them to know your language, you are coming to THEIR country. We respect that the workers here know not only some of the common words we use but also speak pretty decent English. To us, it just seems like people are impatient and dont want to slow down and listen to them speak due to their accent. Some of them are not that hard to understand, also you have to remember, to them we also have an accent and tend to talk faster as most Americans do, so think about that and them showing their patience for us as well before you comment on them HAVING to learn English and the issues with communication). Regardless, they make sure you are welcome and all of your needs are met to their standards and also try to go above their standards if they can make it happen. Our happiness makes them happy which is very important and we think that's something that everyone can appreciate. We cannot forget about our night crew; Ying, Sam, the restaurant manager Chan, Om, Slavo and Jo were very friendly and enjoyable as always. No other staff has been so polite and helpful as they have been during our stay here at the Passage. Dinner was always amazing and you can tell that the chefs put in personal touches to every dish making it not only delicious but also beautiful to look at. On our last night here, since the staff knew it was our last dinner, they made it special by making us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant by being very attentive to our needs while still making time for the other guests. Once they saw that we were a little hot, they plugged in the big fan to cool us down while we enjoyed our meal. They always make everyone feel welcome while still making you feel like you're the only ones here. With that being said we're glad that we chose to stay at the Passage. For us, being in a secluded location away from the noise was perfect because it was much needed for our busy lifestyles to be able to relax in peace stress free. After going into town and seeing how busy and loud it can be, staying in a quieter area was better suited for us. With that being said, depending on the type of vacation you would like to have consider location to help make your decision on where to stay. We noticed a few reviews were stating the fact that it was far from town, but as i aforementioned, the peace and quiet that this resort offers is worth being away especially since if we wanted to go into town, they were very helpful in making accommodations so we could enjoy the shops etc when we wanted to experience the busy shopping areas (so just because you are away, doesnt mean you do not have access to see these things). The tour we went on was amazing and fun. We did the 4 in 1 which included Elephant Trekking, ATV riding, Cable Ride through the jungle and seeing one of the two Waterfalls having time to swim, and see the top of the waterfall. We recommend this tour because you have plenty of time to enjoy all of these activities and even though we were back by 1230, we started early in the morning and it was a very eventful day and we felt like we accomplished a lot and seen a lot of beautiful parts of the island. Again, a ride was there to take us where we needed to go and staff made sure we were safe and had fun throughout the tour. All in all, this was the best place to stay here on Koh Samui and even though we have not seen the other island resorts/hotels, we would not want to stay anywhere else and this experience was very memorable and it will be hard for our next vacation because we will be comparing it to this one. The staff and the way they made us feel at home will be hard to beat wherever we go next. If our lives allowed it, we would have literally stayed on the island and made it our home...that is how they made us feel and that feeling will last a lifetime. We cannot wait to return we are actually deeply saddened at the fact that we have to return back to the states. We recommend this place to any and everyone. Remember to consider all of your needs and wants and practicality before going off of one or two reviews and having that be your deciding factor for staying here. Everyone has different wants and needs and you have to have and keep an open mind whenever traveling and this place has everything you want and need and more plus beautiful sceneries all day long and great weather to top it off. It is always beautiful the moment you walk out of your room and being so close to the beach is also a perfect addition to an already perfect resort. It doesnt hurt that everyone is friendly and always has a smile on their faces which helps make your stay so much better. We think that people are so quick to find the negatives in everything when there are so many positives right in front of their faces and it stops them from truly having an enjoyable vacation when a lot of the "complaints" are not fully thought out. This place is awesome!
