“Romantic or Business stay in Stavanger”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

The hotel is on the edge of the harbour which has views over the old town and an ever changing view of ships and yaughts which no other hotel in the area has. Also it is in a vibrant postion with lots of life, in the summer time, and nice and peaceful in the winter. Lots of restuarants between 1 and 5 minutes walking distance with a variety of styles.
The reception area is welcoming for both business and tourists.
They have some good restuarant payment plans which save carrying cash and cards. Efficient lifts are nice.
The airport bus stop is outside and takes you through areas on the way to the airport and is very good value compared with the taxis.
They are the only hotel I have experienced honouring the airline mileage bonus point schemes.
The rooms are moderate in size, but the entretainment system (TV) very slow operation. The ligting and sockets need attention. Nice shower and bathroom. Handy having a suana and fitness suite on the 3rd floor with a nice refreshment area on the 4th.
For Scandinavia the Buffet breakfast is good with a nice selection.
The afternoon tea outside watching the activity is supreme and then to have a dinner buffet with both being inclusive jsut makes the stay that more enjoyable financially beneficail in such an expensive restuarant area, especially for families and convenient.too. .

Room Tip: Ensure you request not to be at the rear of the building.

Nice location in the centrum of Stavanger, with view over the inner harbour. But the location also have some side-effects: noise from the nightlife in night and traffic and tourists in daytime. This combined with a very noisy AC, which forces you to open the window and let outside noise in, caused us to have close to no sleep.

The hotel was probably top notch 30 years ago, but now it's just outdated and tired. Rotten interior due to leakage from the shower, dirty carpets etc.

We were also not satisfied with the personal:
- bad cleaning in the room
- no extra attention (it was our wedding night)
- we had agreed a late check-out, but the staff tried to force is out earlier
- we also tried to order breakfast delivered to the room, but had no success calling the reception. No one answered.

Stavanger has a lot of great hotels, this is not one of them.

Travelled with friends and enjoyed a 2 nite stay here, rooms perfect for what we wanted. The location of this hotel is its biggest asset. Sadly the bar closed early so we never sat for drinks but we did have breakfast which was good and we sat outside in the sun with our coffees. Its right on the harbour so plenty of hussle and bussle going on...you cant stay in a centralo location then complain about noise in my opinion! We slept well both nites and would stay here again no problem. Staff at reception were always friendly and smiling...what more could you want.

Booked this for a business trip as Clarion Collection hotels usual are very good, this was however a big disappointment! Poor evening buffet, noicy location even on a weekday. Rooms really need to be refurbised, in my room light over the bed was not working, and in the evening it got too dark in the room to read a book.

Next time will book Clarion Hotel Stavanger instead!

Stayed in Room 502 for a couple of nights. Found it to be just fine. Can be a bit noisy at night as there are lots of bars in the vicinity. Bring your own wash cloth as they just have hand and bath towels. Also, no bar soap, just liquid out of dispenser on the wall and shower. There's a 7 Eleven nearby.

Room Tip: 5th floor is the best

Stayed for 2 nights in room 504. Brilliant location with a great view over the docks! Can recommend staying here if you are visiting for the "Gladmat" festival. Then you are right in the middle of the festival. No sounds from next door rooms. Clean and nice room.
Bed was a little too small and too soft.
Breakfast and afternoon snack was very good.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012 via mobile

2 nights on business. No ventilation in the room. Hot and stuffy. Should have gone somewhere else. Stayed here a few years ago and it was OK but gone downhill. Great views over the harbour but at a (noisy) price. Recommend staying somewhere off the main promenade.
