“Delicious food, nice environment and great selection of wine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

we loved the food at gaffel & karaffel but missed a wider food- menu (Although the wine menu was almost extensive). I love tapas but wished there were more than one tapasdish (which consist of about 10 tapas) because here you have to choose all the tapas on the menu in one dish for one price (about 390kr.). I missed beeing able to choose maybe three or four different tapas dishes for a lower price instead of each 10(ish) tapas dishes for 390,-. So dining here is quite expensive. However, I loved almost all the plates of tapas, especially the chicken, meatballs, scampi and the tomato/ mozarella salad. Tasy and Well made and tasty bread and aioli. service was good and I'm sure they had any wine you' d fancy. But all bottles were also quite expensive, only a few were under 500kr a bottle. One glass of the house' s red wine was about 90Kr. We had a good time and enjoyed abselutely lovely food and wine but it did become an expensive evening!

“Tapas, as good as they come”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2012

Walking through the busy restaurant district in downtown Stavanger on Thursday night is like going through a carnival town, so many choices, and yet more bewildering what restaurant to choose. I got help at hand, my close friend and her boyfriend said:` what about Tapas`?, and the road led further to Gaffel and Karaffel.
Tapas was our main dish, full range tapas comes at about 100$ (a bit pricey for tourists, but still acceptable for the locals). The food was handsomely presented, and a side vegeterian dish for me came in a very artistic fashion. An extensive range of red and white wine is also available.
I strongly recommend the restaurant for its nice atmosphere, friendly and warm personnel, and not to mention the tasty food.

“Good atmosphere, excellent food and great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2011

Visited Stavanger in May for business and went back to this great place. We opted for the tasting menu, or rather the "tapas-plate" as you get it all on a huge plate, and it didn't let us down. The food was great and each dish was interesting, well presented and very tasty, it makes me hungry thinking about it! Just like earlier visits, the service was great, not to formal and some background on each dish was provided. The owner came out and introduced himself which was a nice touch, the only thing he got wrong was the weather for the next day. But I forgive him, and thanks Bjoern and your team, for a very memorable experience, I will be back.

“Good food, good wine, good service, I would go again.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2011

The seafood tapas platters were amazing. They're not kidding when they say large. Lobster, mussels, shrimp, crab, all quite well prepared. There are a few normal menu options for those seeking a non-tapas meal. The mushroom stuffed pastry was good. Starters are rather sparse but quite nicely presented. Beer and wine for sure, uncertain about mixed drinks. All in all a nice evening with pleasant servers. Prices ? Well, you're in Norway, but they are not excessive given the venue.
