Tørvis is a charming, quiet inn that sits (somewhat remotely) on the shores of Lustrafjord. The inn has a very homey feel to it. The hotel staff is very pleasant and happy to accomodate your needs. Perhaps the best surprise was the food! We enjoyed two of the most outstanding dinners in recent memory. The chef's philosophy is to use all local ingredients, taking advantage of seasonal foods from the area. The portions were huge and food was heavenly. One night we enjoyed locally, farm-raised Black Angus steak with hand-picked wild mushrooms. On another night we enjoyed pan seared halibut. The desserts and breakfasts were equally delightful. We enjoyed our meals by a window with a scenic view of Lustrafjord. On the morning we were leaving, we had a very early depature and the staff prepared generous hand-packed brunch bags for both of us to enjoy on our journey back to Oslo.
The hotel has bicycles and kayaks available for the guests to use. The surroundings are quiet and rich in natural beauty. We've never slept better on a vacation. The only TV is in a large recreation room in the main lodge but the rooms all have radios. They also have a billiard table and dartboard. The main lodge has a library and a large living-room/sitting area where you can enjoy a book or after-dinner drink. Overall, an extremely memorable stay.
