We decided that whilst in Norway we had to go on a fjord trip. For two people it cost 156 GBP and the scenery was lovely. however, due to weather it was impossible to sit outside to really get a view of the mountains, snow etc; it was just too cold. The boat was really well kitted out though with loads of space because there were only 8 people on the trip, as it was November!! So, if going in the summer, i would recommend booking well in advance as i can imagine it would be very full.
At this time of year, the boat stops at various places during the trip to pick up other people and it takes about 90minutes to reach the destination. we were really looking forward to this trip as it has a 3 hours stop to explore the local town/village before returning. we were sorely disappointed as nearly all the hotels were shut. there were only 3 shops open and one was a fast food place serving pretty horrible food with not much care for customers.
we actually returned to the boat an hour early and read or got online with our ipads.
i would not recommend this trip off season UNLESS you are really into walking, in which case there are two very scenic routes around the town, one taking 90 minutes, the other taking 60 minutes.
the whole trip is day tour leaving from bergen at 7am and returning about 6.30pm.
take food with you and drinks esp in off season. and warm clothing
