“Okay for a couple of nights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Good location, unusual breakfast arrangement - a sandwich, juice and apple in a bag own the door knob. Fine for a couple of nights but longer and it would feel a bit cramped. Being above the pizza restaurant could have been a problem but was okay

very conveniently situated in the center of the city near to the Hurtigruten terminal. Very small but correct rooms. The pub nearby generates quite a lot of noise, especially when a football game is on the TV screen. As far as the "breakfast" is concerned, it is slightly bewildering to find in the morning on your doorknob a bag with a sandwich, an apple and an orange-juice.

A small entrance let us into a small and a bit crowded hall: this induced us to suspect that we hit yet another budget, average-quality hotel. But facts soon made us change our mind.
The hotel is placed in a very central position from where the central station, the fish market, the famous Bryggen historical district, the funicular to the uphill viewpoint, as well as a number of central streets and beautiful museums can be easily reached.
The room was quiet, comfortable, and properly sized.
Since early morning you could find breakfast in a bag hanging outside the door, containing 2 sandwiches (choice was possible among 3 flavours by telling the reception staff), a fruit juice, and an apple: it was a good day starter, as well as a time saver for those cases when we had to leave early in order to participate into one of those amazing fjord tours.

The downsides were pretty much unimportant: the reception, as I have hinted in the beginning, was quite small and sometimes crowded with people and suitcases. As a consequence, the only two publicly available Internet-connected computers were often occupied. In our private bathroom, water from the shower could easily flood the bathroom floor, because there was basically no edge around the shower to retain it. Last, the hotel was not-so-cheap, but we recognize that the room rate was much more affordable than most other accommodations in Bergen.

All in all, a very nice hotel at a mostly reasonable price (at least compared with most others).

Clean, cosy hotel. On the cheaper side. Toilet is miniscule but can be tolerated for one night. Very nice and friendly staff. Rudimentary breakfast (a sandwich, canned juice, and a fruit) placed in front of door which in a sense suited me because I didn't have to go out to have breakfast. Location is okay (stations within 10 minutes of nice walk) and almost central, if not exactly central. If you are staying for a night or two at most, and it doesn't rain outside, then you wouldn't have much to complain. So, in short, I would recommend it for budget-minded non-fussy travelers.

I stayed here for 3 nights while traveling for job interview. The reception is in a different building than the actual hotel, which is really nice as there is a disco under the building where the reception is and the music there is pretty loud! :) That being said, the room was clean and cosy, the bathroom was fairly clean and had ground heating, which is awesome.

At the corridors, it was quiet at night. But beware of the outside noise to bother you at the weekend nights! The solution to that is to have a pair of ear plugs with you like I always do! :) The breakfast is delivered at your door in a recyclable paper bag every morning. It is actually a typical Norwegian breakfast: Two ham and cheese sandwiches, an apple and apple juice! It's healthy and delicious. Coffee and tea is in the room along with a water boiler. So that's pretty nice too!

I definitely would suggest this hotel if you need to stay central and pay a reasonable price for that! I will stay here again!

Location-wise this is a good place to stay in Bergen, but its poor facilities does not warrant the price. We paid NKr980/night, about US170. This is a hotel which requires a major overhaul.

First of all the Football Bar at the hotel front shouldn't be there. On the afternoon of our arrival the bar was full of loud and inebriated football fans watching football on a big screen TV, the atmosphere of which presented a rather intimidating impression to new arrivals. Who knows how the drunken fans might act if their favourite team loses.

Secondly, the bathroom wash basin in our room leaked the whole 3 nights we were there despite our complaint.

Thirdly, the staircase doesn't allow access to the lobby. One has to rely on the very slow lift. The breakfast only consisted of a sandwich, a fruit and a small packet of fruit juice, unlike other hotels in Norway which typically provided full buffet breakfast daily.

On the positive side, the hotel front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a stone's throw from the town centre and harbour.

Given the general price levels in Bergen, this hotel is at the cheaper end of the price range. Yet it is still pretty expensive (we paid approx. 110 eur), especially considering what you get for it. The room was relatively small, bathroom far from luxurious and pretty old. Everything was clean though, yet very tired. There is no breakfast room, so you get a low quality sandwich, apple, and apple juice to eat in your room. Not a very good or elegant solution. The free coffee in the lobby doesn't taste great.
I needed earplugs to sleep some of the nights, especially when you want to leave your window open.

On the plus side: internet is free, and the location is very central.
