“Expensive but child friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013 via mobile

Firstly, we visited this initially on a Sunday. Our guide book and from a brief look at the website suugested it closed at 6pm on Sunday. It didn't - we got there at 3.30pm to be told it closed at 4pm. We had one very disapointed 5 year old!
So we came back the next morning. It is expensive (just over 600kr for 2 adults and a child) but there is a discount if you have a Bergen card. It's small and not really value for money - however my daughter really enjoyed the displays and being allowed to feed the carp. English was widely spoken and on all the displays. Altogether, on a very rainy day it was a pleasant and covered place to spend a couple of hours as a family. I did feel that a couple of the enclosures were too small though. I doubt we'd visit again, I wouldn't dream of spending the equivalent amount on a small aquarium trip in the UK but overall we had a nice time.

“OK, but not a major aquarium”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

This was a nice place to go on our rainy day, and we did see an interesting array of sea life here. However, this is not a major aquarium that you'd expect to see in a larger city. They have the basics...the penguins, sea lions, some nice fish tanks, and exhibits of local fishes.

Based on the price that we had to pay to get in, I probably would not go back if I visited Bergen again.

“Worth a visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013 via mobile

We found this worth a visit mainly for the large tanks displaying the local marine life. These appeared to be in a recently upgraded section of the aquarium and were most interesting. The accompanying digital displays were informative and appeared in several languages.

It was nice to get up close the the penguins and the sea lion performance was a lot of fun.

It was unusual to have an aquarium with so much space devoted to reptiles and spiders. But these were interesting nevertheless. Some displays and enclosures are rather dated and could do with an upgrade to a more realistic environment.

The price of entry is expensive (200 Kr), but then that's Norway.

“It is not Sea World, but it is a nioce place to visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

The Aquarium is small, but it has nice attractions. The pengiuns and Sea Lions are most interesting, but feeding the gold fish is always fun.

“Check out the penguins”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

On the edge of the areas tourists may want to visit is the Bergen Aquarium. There is an outdoor area for penguins - at least there was in the winter - which was interesting. Other wise this aquarium is pretty much for the locals on a rainy day - which happens quite often in Bergen. It was interesting to see live versions of some of the fish we eating every day.
