We stayed 3 nights in September 2006.The hotel is very well located near to old Bergen (the wooden house area) and to the Harbour, !00 yards away.The market area and the funicular railway are also close by.

The airport bus which runs every 15 minutes or so ,has its last stop at the SAS Royal hotel ,about 200 yards away.The fare is 72 Kroner.

We asked for a room with a view ,which we had right over the harbour ,so could see the ferries etc. coming and going.

The room was comfortable with the usual shower& toilet,also there was a small fridge. This proved useful as there is a decent small supermarket -Rema 1000-just a block away.

Given Norway bar price of beer it was nice to have a cold one in the fridge for siesta time!

A good Buffet breakfast was available from 07.00-10.00
We paid 795 Kr. for a twin per night ,including breakfast, but a charge of 50 Kr.each for breakfast is now made, but this would still be excellent value

What else?

Oh yes,altho' this hotel seems fovoured by coach tours,its not noisy and its easy to get a good nights sleep.

All in all a good value ,well placed hotel,and and easy to get to from the airport. (The train and Bus Stations are side by side a 15 minute walk away, busses are available hotel staff will advise..

We stayed at the Thon Hotel Bergen Brygge on Monday, June 12, 2006. We are last minute people and didn't book our hotel rooms until a few days before leaving for Norway. Needless to say we didn't have very much to pick from but we choose this hotel for its location.

It is indeed a budget hotel but the rooms were clean and you can't beat the location. It is right in the heart of all the action. And there was a lot of action when we were there. Everyone was out on the town. We were very impressed with Bergen's nightlife. There was a huge gathering of motorcycle riders, two guys were getting handcuffed by the Politi and everyone else sitting around drinking beer and eating ice cream and watching all the action.

The continental breakfast at the hotel was very good--lots of variety. But if you like the finer things in life this hotel is not for you.

For dinner we ate at the Nama Sushi Bar and had an awesome meal. We would highly recommend it.

Driving in Bergen was very difficult. We had trouble finding the hotel and noticed others having the same difficulty---finally we found someone to help us. We should have found out what all the traffic signs meant before we took off in a car but....like I said. We don't plan very far in advance. But living like that has it advantages---it is always an adventure!!!
