This was the forth and final stop on our Fjords cruise, and was by far the best of the ports we stopped at. With having a young daughter we did the hop on hop off city tour bus and found this good value at £17 per adult. The tour gave an overview of the city with the potential to get off and explore further.
We went up the funicular in the tram which cost about £8 for a return or you can pay half and walk back, this is about a 30 minutes walk. The views from the summit are breathtaking a full panoramic view of the city and is a must see.
Bergens markets were busy and bustling with tourists and locals, and the fish market displayed the freshest fish possible, souvenirs even on these stalls were extremely expensive so ensure you convert the price to your own currency prior to purchase so you don't get stung. We almost bought 3 pairs of children's socks for £8 each, we worked out the price and quickly put them back.
Overall Bergen is a beautiful city and I would revisit for a longer spell next time, but it is important to ensure you do your sums to make sure you get value for money
