Stayed two nights in this hotel, after booking an upgraded 'Superior room' through the hotel website at approx £190 a night - so far from cheap.
The greeting on arrival was poor - you wait while the reception staff type away ignoring you until they feel like noticing you.
On reaching the room it was like stepping back in time to the1980's and not in a good way. It bore no resemblence to the picture of the room on the hotel website which was shown when we booked.
It was small, tatty, badly worn, poorly finished and well past its sell by date. The bedside light was clipped to the headboard and fizzed and flickered when you tried to turn it on. The heating control didn't work. The bathroom had a shower curtain and showerhead that may have been white10 years ago, but had now turned a nasty shade of yellow and brown. The bath itself had a pipe exiting the side of the bath where you would step out of it, meaning you could quite easily trip over the pipe and so was clearly dangerous. The other fixtures and fitting in the bathroom were like something out of a cheap British B&B from the seventies. The towels left white bits all over you when used.
The curtains in the room were hanging off the rail, the twin beds lumpy and the newest thing in the room was a ten year old sony flatscreen TV, which was also past its best. It didn't even have a kettle or tea and coffee making facitilites, which our hotel in Oslo did.
This was supposed to be a Superior room, so I hate to think what the Standard rooms are like.
I have to say this was the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in and I've stayed in many hotels, all over the world.
When I visited reception to check we were actually in a Superior room, the response was yes, as the room had a view. The guy on reception didn't look at me, just kept typing away happy to try and ignore me and I could tell both that he was desperate for me to just go away and also that he must get complaints about the rooms all the time. He had no interest in enaging with me or showing concern over the fact I was unhappy with the room. The service was really poor.
Good points....well the view is good. And the breakfast is pretty extensive and of a good quality and the staff at breakfast were pretty good to.
Its a 5 minute walk to the centre and rest of things to see and the airport bus leaves from straight outside, (100kr one way).
But I have to say that this hotel is at best 1 to 2 star. The room was a massive dissappointment and the reception service is terrible.
One to avoid.
