Description: With a panoramic view over the river Nidelven you'll find the hotel's Brasserie, with some of Norways greatest chefs. A wood-fired oven is the heart of the restaurant and is helping to fill the room with a delicious aroma and a great view. An extensive menu with everything from classic dishes to 3- and 5- course menues, makes this a brassiere for any occasion.

“Sorry To Spoil a Perfect Record”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012 via mobile

This is the restaurant of the Hotel Rica Bakklaret and the hotel is simply excellent, as we have reported elsewhere. We chose to eat in the restaurant on the first of our four nights in Trondheim, on the strength of the exceptionally good reports in Trip Advisor from others. The restaurant is on the ground floor, with a superb view of the river and the old warehouses along its banks, from the enormous glass wall along one side. The service was impeccable. We both chose a different main course. Mine was baked hake, a delicious, delicately- flavoured fish. Unfortunately, it arrived smothered in a large pile of roasted almonds that was almost as large as the piece of fish itself, and these turned out to be salty to the point that they completely masked the taste of the fish. I did report this to them waitress, who apologised and said she would inform the chef, but that was the last I heard of it. My partner had better luck with a lamb dish, though it was not an especially memorable one given the accolades that this restaurant has been receiving. The lamb was much firmer than expected and was accompanied by a lot of beans in a reasonably tasty but unexceptional manner. Neither of us claims to be an expert gourmet but we do eat out a lot and have done so for the last two weeks in four Norwegian cities and this was easily the most disappointing meal of our visit, as well as being an expensive one. Hopefully, the kitchen was just having a bad night?

We had a fix three course menu at the upper class restaurant
The food, it's presentation and the taste were great.
The service was very good as well - good explanations on the food and not intrusive

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

Had a lovely evening here with friends. Had a 5 course dinner and the kitchen gave us the ultimate dinner experience. The local food combined with the techniques from the chefs gave us an experience we will remember for a long time. The waiter had a lot of wine knowledge and it made the evening even better. If you would like to spend an evening in a good environment, great view of Nidelven, super service and delicious food, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

“Glassgarden Grill - Probably the best in Trondheim.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

Ambitious, well composed menu based on local produce. Modern delicious food, knowledgable and pleasant waiters and chefs - highly recommended! In addition to "standard" modern molecular cooking elements from such as maltodextrin, alginate capsules and a smoke-encapsuled starter, they served local creative touches like whey byproduct from homemade cheese, served as a drink with gin and vanilla, which brought the meny to another level. Delightfully innovative high level cooking, probably the best in Trondheim. PS. This restaurant/hotel consists of more than one restaurant - I'm reviewing Glassgaarden Grill, which has a fixed three or five course meny.

“Gourmet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

Please try this restaurant in the Hotel Rica Bakklandet. If the right chefs are working there, you`ll bee happy. We tasted Main food and dessert :) The chefs that work there are 7 of 12 chefs who are in competition with chefs for norways cooking of food. Try the fish, norweigan KVEITE, the best I ever taste. We tried 2 evening, The first evening was magnificent, the second was great. I was told that the chefs was in a competition in OSLO the second evening, and we taste that, but great food . Good place to stay also, beacause this restaurant is location in a hotel. Closed in sundays.
