“Nothing fancy but a decent value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

This is a good location in Trodheim, it is a seven or eight minute walk from the railway station, just a little longer to the harbor. It is across the street from pretty little park and the Royal Residence. Most of the tourists sites are walkable from here and there are all sorts of shops and restaurants nearby. We were on the 4th floor facing the street. This might be noisy at times but we didn't have problems. The room was decent size with large windows. The hotel has no dining room but offers a boxed breakfast for 75NOK each. We tried this the first morning and requested 0900 delivery. We had become used to everything being prompt in Norway so when we didn't get anything by 0920 my wife went downstairs and retrieved our meals. Reception said they had just arrived. For 75NOK they weren't bad but we decided to strike out on our own the next morning. I don't really like eating breakfast in my room, I like to be among people. The hotel did have a coupon for 10% off at a local bakery that looked good but we did not use it. According to the hotel web page we thought we were to have a fridge and microwave in the room but didn't. We talked with reception about this and they said this was only in superior rooms but did allow that the web page was misleading and later brought up a microwave. This was a mixed blessing as we had to set it on the floor to reach a plug. In fairness there was a well equipped communal kitchen, also on the 4th floor. All of the staff were pleasant and helpful with one strange exception. My wife was trying to make some local phone calls and nothing would connect. She mentioned this to a young lady at the desk and was told that it was because the phone in our room was not working. So my wife asked if she could use the desk phone for a local call. The receptionist said apologetically that she didn't think that was allowed. So, since the phone is out and they know this, why not replace it or at least let the guests know that the phone is unavaiable? Since there didn't seem to be any resolution on offer we just gave up on the phone calls. Despite these issues I would probably stay here again, the good outweighed the few negatives.

Don't expect any frills here. Pretty well no service although there is a reception open for most hours. Our family apartment was very tight with the fold away beds included and because we arrived during a warm summer spell the rooms were very hot and stuffy. Saturday night also rather noisy but we recognised we were in the centre of town which was very convenient ultimately to the Cathedral, shops and old part of town ( a few mini supermarkets nearby which allowed us to cater for breakfast). The kitchenette in the family apartment was very basic so would be difficult to cook anything significant. The airport bus dropped us just around the corner.
One of the most annoying and surprising things was that the bath tub basically collapsed on us (one of its plastic leg buckled and the protective casing was not put on properly) so this could have been a safety hazard.

Dear Anton G,

Thank you for your review!
Firstly - sorry about the tub! It has been fixed now. As you point out, we did have higher temperatures than usual this summer, and it would be convenient for you with a bigger room.
If you return to us in Trondheim, please let us know, and we will find a room that better suit your needs.

Best rgds.

Centrally located, solid hotel. Rather cheap prices, so well suited for a longer stay. Room service only once a week, but coffee at the reception all day long and WiFi is free. And the staff is really helpful.

As my review about this hotel was not approved by Booking.com I write a review here instead.

Booked this room on Booking.com. I stayed for 1 night on May 22. in a double room. Nice staff and the room was newly refurbished. Very good location and price (NOK 640,-) was good too. Bus, food/snack only seconds walk away.
Ofcourse at this price not everything is good. The room is only cleaned once a week (!). (but for short stays thats not a problem). Bathroom was nice but with some flaws. Very small shower area and some flaws with the refurbishment some places. But I think I will come back some other time if I need a room for 1 night.

(+):
staff
bed
location
internet included and ok speed
desk
a book with info about different things you can do in Trondheim
can open windows
price

(-):
small tv and few channels
tv high up on wall
if you want cleaning/more towels you have to pay xtra
no pen/paper
small reception area
no safe in room
could not adjust temperature
no refrigerator as described on hotels website
I could hear the neighbors good
small shower area
toilet too close to sidewall, not comfortable to sit there
cold bathroom

3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012 via mobile

This hotel is in an excellent location and is priced right for what it offers: Ikea decorated with minimal amenities. If you are looking for a quiet place on a weekend, I would consider shelling out more money at a higher end place, as this hotel attracts party goers. The staff here is fantastic and will do as much as they can to accommodate any requests. City living is definetly worth a stay if you are on a small budget.

For a cheap no-frills stay in a city, this hotel is perfect. I like when I get what I pay for – in this case, I got a clean room to sleep in (albeit a little cold) and wifi. That's all I needed, and that's what I got, for a very reasonable price.

I really liked this hotel: location, comfort, price are all excellent. The hotel is basic, but that is what I wanted. I was very happy in my room on the 4th floor -- it was reasonably spacious and quite comfortable. The staff were nice and helpful, and the surroundings of the hotel are very pleasant. I would definitely stay here again.
