Stayed 3 nights at the Radisson SAS Caledonien in Kristiansand in June 2005. Booked superior double but although the room was reasonable in size, the furniture was old, dark and fairly shabby, as were the bathroom and the fittings. Was given room on a higher floor as requested but it overlooked the cargo depot where they started shifting cargo at 7.30 am each morning. The breakfast choice was very good but the room was too small to cater for the number of guests (and high number of babies and small children) and the clearing and cleaning of tables was quite slow and not very thorough (placemats all stuck to the tables). Would not stay there again.

Spent one night here in July, 2002. Near water and railway. Helpful, friendly staff, immaculately maintained, lovely outside sitting area, good food, friendly service in restaurant. Close to shopping, sights, etc.

We stayed at the Hotel (for one night only) in May 2001. Needed a Hotel most convenient to the Ferry to Denmark (Color Line). Norwegian Breakfast was excellent, Buffet style, and is served early enough to enjoy, to catch the first Ferry.Room was on the 8th Floor, very nice (except for the burn marks on the carpet-requested a Smoking room!) but the view from our window was breathtaking. Looked right down on the pier of the Color Line and way beyond. A 180 deg. view of the town and the water (our direction W towards Søgne).Small parking fee for the car (should have it free for guests!) but otherwise would stay there again.PS. were given a small deduction in room charge when we mentioned our disappointment re the burnmarks. Hotel was supposed to get renovations our room included.
