“Well located in a quiet part of the city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

The hotel has very good location. Walking distance to most attractions. The rooms are middle-sized and very nice view form my room, 10.th floor facing Noddeviga, where there was walkways, creek and quay. The hotel has been refurbished in the last years. The was a wide selection for breakfast, very good. Room prize is above average.

Room Tip: I had a a room in 10.th floor facing Noddeviga, where there was walkways, creek and quay. Very nice...

The beds are worn out (when you sit down into them they banana). The shower doesn't have a door so the bathroom floor gets really wet.
Clean hotel and nice enough for work. Don't know how it compares to other local hotels.

Stayed at this hotel for a 1-day business trip. I was allowed a very early check-in (at 11 am) by a very friendly and service minded receptionist. Rooms had all the amenities you would expect from a business-hotel. My room on 4th floor had a splendid view of the sea, the furniture was a little worn and outdated, the bed much too soft.

Breakfast was really good - nothing special - but fully adequate. All the usual buffet items in a good-enough quality.

We had a light dinner (me and a colleague) in the hotel restaurant - which was really good. Clearly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view. If you have a back problem - you should ask if they can provide rooms wi...

I stayed at the hotel for two nights toghether with my eight year old son for leisure. The hotel is pretty average. Hotelrooms are big, but looks like it was decorated 20 years ago. Breakfast is also a average norwegian hotel breakfast. What brings this hotel up from a average rating is the friendlyness of the staff, and the location near to the beautiful public recreation area Odderøya, the spectacular concert hall "Kilden" and the restaurant-area by the harbour.

In Kristiansand for 3 nights for business meetings. Room is decent size for this part of the world. Bathroom was adequate (heated floor is nice) but the shower was a bit cramped. Had a corner room that was overlookinig the marina and not the container cargo area this time, which was nice,. Check-in/check-out was simple and easy. Room was clean. Breakfast buffet had American options as well as the typical Norweigan fare

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the containerized cargo area that is next door to the hotel

Good business hotel. The rooms are comfortable, clean and adequately sized. The bathroom is large and excellent shower. Beds are fine, extra pillows in the room. There was enough space in the room for a business meeting (three chairs and a table) and the Wi-Fi connection was good.
The reception was efficient and helpful. Both check-in and check-out was fast. The breakfast was typical Scandinavian and no complaints there. The coffee… typical Norwegian (Luke-warm and thin).
Location is great. Short walk to the main shopping/restaurant area plus the restaurants just across the street. If you have an hour to spare then take a nice afternoon walk to the hill/island in front of the hotel.
Early morning sunrise view out the harbor was breathtaking.

On the negatives:
It’s definitely time for an update. The rooms are “tired”.
There is street-noise. Nothing the hotel can do about it but I slept with an open window and I think the local kids race their cars on the road outside.
The container storage next door starts early in the morning. Can be loud. Once again – open window.
The biggest negative: For two nights they had some activity in the nightclub in the hotel with live music and it was LOUD. Trying to sleep at midnight listening to a Norwegian version of “Louie Louie” was not enjoyable. Closing the window did not help. (I think this was a conference connected activity and not an every-day thing).

Overall I will stay there next time I’m in Kristiansand but from now on I will ask for a room as high up as possible.

Room Tip: Go as high as you can to reduce noise from street and container harbor.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2012 via mobile

Stayed for one night early January. Hotel looks outdated from the outside and that impression continues on the inside. By my standards a total renovation is long over due. Room was small and dark. Fluorescent faded lights by the window enhances the outdated feeling. Worn out squeaky bed. The bathroom on the other hand is recently renovated, light and nice, though a bit small. A big plus for the bathtub. Dark and outdated colors on walls and carpets seem to go on throughout the hotel. Well assorted breakfast served in a rather large, dusty, closed in breakfast hall. Staff was welcoming and service minded.
