We (myself, my husband, our 11 yr old granddaughter) stayed in this hotel twice in 2011, once on Aug 19 when we arrived from Denmark & again on Sept 1 when we were leaving Norway to return Denmark. I had also stayed there in Aug 2007. Whoa...I didn't even recognize the hotel this time -- in 2007 the entrance had been on a different street & its decor had been much more traditional. The check-in at the new Reception area was still efficient. For a fee, we were able to park our rental car in their garage.
Our 3rd floor room was not a large room, but it was very clean & new looking -- & very modern. There was a comfortable double bed for us & a bunk bed (which was down but I think may actually be a pull-down from the wall) for our granddaughter. The bathroom was a large, sparkling clean one. The floor was a modern wood style.
Breakfast in the main floor/lobby Breakfast Room was good -- with the usual meat, cheese, bread & fruit. We ate dinner at a pleasant jazz/pizza restaurant -- Jonas B Gundersen near the town square (however, if you're thinking "inexpensive pizza meal" - you're wrong; this is Norway, & very few meals are inexpensive. Nothing against it - it's just a fact).
Best of all, this reasonably priced hotel is just a short walking distance to the ferry to/from Denmark.
