Description: Lofoten is an elegant, yet cosy and relaxed seafood restaurant on the edge of Aker Brygge with an exquisite maritime menu, good beverages and excellent service. Lofoten pride themselves in serving the best fish and seafood the sea has to offer. The restaurant's philosophy is to serve rustic food that not only looks good, but also tempts the palate and satisfies one's hunger. The menu changes 7-8 times a year and reflects each season's specialities. January-March: Steamed cod with liver and roe, flown in from Lofoten! April-September: Summer menu, 200 seats outside with a great view of the Oslo Fjord. October-December: The Norwegian speciality lutefisk (cod treated with lye).

“Arrogant, stuck-up staff, incompetent supervisors and descent overpriced food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

Fantastic location at the waterfront. Descent set-up. I arrived around 5pm in an almost empty restaurant. I made a fast choice and winked the staff that I wanted to order, no-one came. I winked again and again and finally left the place after 20 minutes of waiting and watching the staff chatting with each other. Then a waitress came to me appologized and begged me to get back to my table. She took the orders, oysters and heilbot. I watched the staff. The same waitress had to do all the work, taking orders, delivering food, cleaning the tables, while the other staff were doing nothing. The other staff even refused to clean my table. It was obvious there was some kind of "war" going on between the staff. I finally asked the bill, again, again and finally after 20 minutes i was authorized to pay. The food was good quality food and well prepared, the bill sky high. The management is totally incompetent and does not give any support to the waiters. When made aware that there is a problem they will turn and walk away. Avoid the resataurant, there is much better,

“What a find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

We stumbled across this restaurant almost by accident, after disembarking the ferry from the Viking Ship Museum.

We came here for lunch and had the three course set menu for 300KR. The food was excellent, with a fish soup starter, baked lye for a main course and a vanilla panna cotta with coconut sorbet and berries for dessert. The main course was good, whilst the starter and dessert were outstanding.

For Oslo, this is excellent value. Truly mediocre one-course meals with a drink can cost over 300KR.

Highly recommended. Give it a visit!

“Sophisticated flavors”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

Had lunch here last week and ordered the 3 course special menu of the day. The crab soup was amazing, one of those dishes that gourmands say has many levels of taste. Lovely baby shrimp in it as well. Followed by an interesting ling cod and vanilla panna cotta with fresh lemon sorbet and raspberries. And the folks strolling by made for excellent entertainment as well. It helps if you don't have the exchange rate for kroners memorized so that the sticker shock doesn't hit until the credit card bill comes.

“Nice Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

Went here for lunch on a sunny summer day and watched the strollers on the quai. This supposed to be a place for great fresh fish. For some reason it was deserted. To be safe we ordered fish soup and the special of the day. The soup was OK but the fish of the day was bland and uninteresting. Maybe the white table clothes and nice setting raised our expectations. Perfectly pleasant but nothing special.

“Perfect for a special occasion!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

I wanted to my girlfriend out for a nice dinner as it was her 30th b'day. We tried to book into Solsiden but unfortunately it was fully booked all week, so we went for Lofoten restaurant as i was determined to share a skaldyrsfatt (seafood platter) with her. As we arrived we were immediately taken to our table and offered a welcome drink. We were then described the specials and given some time to look over the wine list. When the waiter came back, he had already brought some bread with him and after hearing what we wanted to order he made some solid recommendations on wine to drink with the food. The seafood platter was fantastic, even though it was a little bit short on oysters and king crab. The waiter was one of the most attentive we have had in eating at Oslo restaurants and the food and wine also matched that standard. Pleasantly suprised after reading a few previous reviews that this was more of a "tourist" restauarant.
