Description: Dinner Restaurant has served food from our Szechuan and Cantonese kitchen in the heart of Oslo since 1989 and are proud to continue offering our guests an exciting journey through Chinese food culture. Traditionally, the Chinese meal consists of many different dishes that are shared between guests at the table in order to create a more social dynamic around the meal time. Our menu is structured in such a way that this style of eating is possible with us. Please ask your waiter if you would like to know more about the dishes and produce used. We would also like to share that all of Dim Sum is made here in the restaurant and the Mango Pudding is still made by the same cook that made it back in 1989.

“Really great restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

I've tried Dinner several times now, and it really is a great restaurant. The food is perfect and the staff is excellent. Always checking if everything is all right. The prices are also quite reasonable for such a high class restaurant in Oslo. If you are two or more, try the crispy duck, you won't regret it!
The only negative thing to mention is that the reserved slots often are to short. Several times now I had to change table between dinner and dessert so other people might have the table. So be sure to reserve a table in good time, as I never saw a free table at this restaurant.

“Best Chinese "Dinner" in Oslo!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014

When my partner was in Oslo in April we had supper quite late one evening at Dinner. We had gone out and had planned on eating oriental food somewhere else but when we arrived there our restaurant choice was “Closed on Mondays”! Yes it was Monday evening and it hadn’t occurred to me to check that the place actually was open – this was well after eight in the evening but as we were in the centre of Oslo we decided to make a beeline for Dinner, as the best alternative. Without a reservation I was unsure whether we would get a table but luckily for us (we were hungry now) there were spare tables and we were shown to a lovely table in the middle of the restaurant secluded by a screen on one side with soft lighting and candles. We ordered different things to share, no. 18 Tiger Prawns Asian Style, with scallops, king crab and wok-fried with spices and herbs, no. 36 Fresh Temptations which was a variety of vegetables tempura style, while we waited we had no. 11, lovely snacks of fried spinach, prawn chips and glazed walnuts, scrumptious! My partner wanted to order ‘medium’ strength but our lovely waitress quickly put us right by advising that ‘medium’ to the Norwegian/Western palate was unbearably hot (!) and that we would be much better off with ‘mild’ strength for the dishes - which would be more than strong enough. Her advice was completely right and the food when it came was more than spicy enough phew! Perfectly cooked rice also came in a bowl. We ordered Chinese beer and this was just right with to the food. This was my partner’s first visit to Dinner but he was so pleased he said he would be more than happy to come again, even when the bill arrived, ca. NOK 650,- for two people sharing was ok for what we had.
Without further ado, Dinner is simply the best Chinese/Oriental restaurant in Oslo! Some Travelers have commented on TripAdvisor that it is both crowded and (excessively) expensive, but Dinner doesn't really cater for the tourist traveler. Of course everyone is welcome but Dinner’s market is mainly the big firms who bring clients to lunch and other events. I was here for lunch with a former colleague in February and yes it was very crowded, mostly with business lunchers in suits. Birthdays and anniversaries are often celebrated here afternoons/evenings, when the setting quickly switches to “romantic”. Also people come here after work before going on to a cinema or theatre; there are many close by. The dishes served at Dinner are usually visual works of art, beautifully presented and the very professional waiters always know what they are talking about. At the rear of the restaurant there is an open view to the kitchen – fun, if you like watching cooks at work, and there is also very nice seating in the cellar down below, with soft comfy sofas along both walls. Don’t think twice, come and experience Dinner if you enjoy spicy Chinese and Oriental food, well worth the price!

“Excellent asian restaurant in Oslo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014

Let me first start by saying that eating out in Oslo is generally expensive. There is a 25% VAT on everything and a higher VAT on liquor.

We were recommended to Dinner by a friend in Oslo. And, Dinner was a pleasant surprise. Much more reasonable in price than we expected; we . Dinner gets 2 forks and spoons in the Michelin guide (different from Michelin stars). The cuisine is Asian fusion and very good. The fixed menu looked delicious, but we chose several choices from the a la carte menu. The food can be spicy, so let the waiter know if you want less spice. We had a long discussion with our waiter, and generally chose medium spice, which was still hot. One sparerib dish with hot spice was delicious but incredibly hot.

We chose to eat in the back room of Dinner, which was much quieter than the front of the restaurant. Also, we had several waiters devoted to this room so our service was great. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu.

The location is great, very close to Hotel Continental and Nationaltheateret on Stortingsgate. We will definitely return.

“Stellar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

With a reasonable pricing point for the quality of food, service and location, Dinner restaurant was a pleasant surprise. While the curious and lackluster name of the restaurant belies it's actual worth (more suited for a 50kr takeout eatery) Dinner Restaurant has world class food selections, something very rare in Norway. Crispy duck highly recommended, dress smart - business casual.

“Nice place but a bit too pricy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

This is a nice and cozy place to eat. The food and the service were very good. The waiters were really attentive to your needs.

Nevertheless, I would say that they have tried to fit too many tables in a small place though. And it is a pricy restaurant, but this is expected when you go to a Michelin starred restaurant.

The general experience was very satisfying and I would recommend this place to others.
