I arrived with a friend friday evening without a reservation, no problem, friendly and efficient service. Although many restaurants in the Grunerlokka area were fully bokked. A warning sign right there?
We had the set five course menu for 595.- NOK.
Small amuse bouche arrived at table, pickled herring on top slices of raddish. Uninventive.
The further menu included, terrine of ox tail, foie gras, halibut, venison, Kamchatcka crab, safran and lobster sauce. All high end produce at the very top of the produce range, but the kitchen does not have the knowledge and skill to pull it off. Food was throughout overseasoned with salt, and the dishes did not at all come together, the ingredients on the plate did not gel and jam, but were rather dissonant, and without a clear common thread. A big let down!
What a shame. There is potential there! But it seems like the kitchen harbour the notion that they can skate by on high end produce, without really putting effort and thought into the production of an interesting composition on the plate.
Service was swift and friendly. Atmosphere is relaxed, albeit the interior is a tad outdated.
Wines by the glass, friendly priced and the real draw of the place. But its a restaurant, not a winebar.Tasty Poliziano Nobile, Excellent Mersaualt and Sancerre for 130 .- NOK, per generous glass.
All in all the restaurant needs to update itself in terms of creativity. All in all an outdated cuisine.
