An insight into the history of polar expeditions by Skandinavian explorers over a century ago. Very informative and entertaining for children

“Insightful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

The attractions offer a very detailed over view of both explorations, including detailed pictures, stories and historical items to enjoy.

Whilst there, it also puts you in the right spot to visit the Kon-Tiki museum as well.

Like most things in Norway, the prices "seem" a touch high but thats just the way things are in that country.

I mean, thats the first reaction when you walk into the museeum. Its really worth to go there. It's an amazing experiece to walk onto and to see everything by yourself, The ship itself is great, you can actually see and feel the history around you

“Big Hit With the Whole Family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

We almost skipped this as we knew little about the Fram. However, the exhibit is wonderfully done. The actual ship is there and carefully preserved so that you can go inside and see how the men lived as they traveled to the Arctic in this small ship. The story of these men and their adventures is memorable, as is the ship itself. Don't miss it when you take the quick ferry to the island to see the Viking ships and the Kon-tiki next door. The Fram was our favorite.

“Not what we thought it was”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

This museum is a big ship that you can walk through, with many little displays around the edge of it. We thought it was going to be something different when we went in due to seeing a picture of it, and we were let down. Maybe if our expectations were different, it would have been more enjoyable for us. There is a "Winter Walktrhough" area, that is basically a hallway with ice and cold fans blowing. A nice escape if it is hot outside. Other than that, just a pretty basic museum.
