Someone once said..." To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity". That premise must be the motto of this hotel. I've travelled extensively and this has been, by far, my most rewarding experience. From the moment i entered the lobby, the staff went above and beyond to make my stay memorable and enjoyable. From drawing maps to various locations, to answering my numerous questions, to advising me on transportation...no endeavour was too minuscule for them. You can tell the leadership in this building is outstanding, as everyone seems happy, friendly and helpful.
The hotel itself is a work of art. It is a juxtaposition of creative flair and historical relevance. The beautiful beams, thick brick walls and windows with large ledges stand in beautiful contrast with the modern art and trendy atmosphere. To me it seems like Robert Munch himself could have played a role in the design.
The location of this hotel cannot be topped, as it is close to so many amenities including Karl Johan Gate, all forms of public transportation, the Opera House, the harbour, shopping, restaurants, entertainment, pubs, and so much more. You could be a travelling rookie and still navigate yourself easily.
The breakfast provided is perhaps the best I have seen. It features an array of hot food alongside various cold cuts, cheeses, smoked trout, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, and the most delectable bread.
My room was beautiful and, most importantly, spotless and precise. The lack of toiletries was not an issue at all, as I take my hygiene seriously and do not rely on a hotel to provide me with the necessities to maintain my standards. The lack of a safe was also not an issue as the staff here are like family and would never stoop to the level to steal from their guests. Never. As far as the long walk to the rooms, as stated in other reviews, if i didn't want to walk I would sleep in my car (plus it isn't far anyway...and my room was at the end of the hall).
All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. But be warned...if you are seeking an ordinary experience in an ordinary hotel, this is not it. Nothing about this place is ordinary. As they say, the difference between try and triumph is a little umph....and this is a home run.
