Before leaving for Oslo and after being on the waiting list for a month we were contacted with the question if we still were interested in dining at Maaemo, which is rarity considering they don't have a lot of cancellations. This establishment is tucked away from the main street which gives it a secluded feeling, which we enjoyed. The restaurant has only one menu, the seasonal menu, but if there are some dietary restrictions they will keep that into account. You also have the option to go for wine by the glass or choose the (non) alcoholic beverage menu, the latter is preferred. After being given some explanation about the menus the food followed. The actual service was very efficient and the courses followed each other very quickly. This resulted that the staff didn't have a lot of time to talk to you when you had any questions about the food, the wines or the restaurant. We did have a quick chat with one of the waiters before we left, but the again we were the last guests by that time. The food itself was a nice overview of Norwegian cuisine. We did however miss a second meat course of some sorts. The meal did end with some light sorbets and desserts, but for the real wow factor you expect in these type of restaurants, we had to wait for the very last dessert.
Overall it was worth the visit, but it was a bit on the expensive side at the end of the day at €290 per head.
