“Thon Hotel Opera- You Have Won Me”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Arrived in Oslo pretty tired after flying from Australia. This hotel is brilliantly located a short distance from where the airport express arrives. We were given early book in, and the reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable- possibly a bit small for an extended stay- but to flop into a soft mattress after a long flight- mmmm. In the bar the fish dish was superb abd Alexander went to great trouble to explain every selection of seafood on it. The breakfast was sumptuos- everything possible available and all fresh.

Room Tip: The rooms looking away from the station would be best. No noise at all from the passenger trains tho...

The Thon Opera was a great hotel for our stay in Oslo. The location is perfect, steps from the train station and public transit. I felt safe walking around day and night and had no issues during our week here. The breakfast is wonderful - lots of choices!

Our room (which had no view) was nice, comfortable, and clean.

Very, very central. Right next to Oslo central station and with a direct link to the Opera House accross the road. Within walking distance of all the major streets and shops. The Hotel has a fine reception with v/nice staff. Bedrooms excellent with all wants covered and really nice beds. Fine dining room and the breakfast gave a great choice which sets one up for the day. The down side for which I was prepared was that Oslo is expensive.

My husband, teenage daughter and I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights last week as part of a Travel Department trip to Oslo.
This hotel was very central, right beside the train station and the beautiful new Opera House.
We stayed on the 9th floor. There aren't any triple rooms, so our daughter was sleeping on a camp-style bed placed beside our queen size bed. Mattress was a bit soft for me. Corridor was quiet with a shoe-shine machine and ice machine beside lift. Our room looked out across the river to the Opera House.
Breakfast was served in restaurant on 3rd floor and was AMAZING! Best hotel breakfast we've ever had - juices, cereal, fruit, yogurts, pancakes, rashers, sausages, beans, fried eggs, boiled eggs (soft & hard boiled), breads, rolls and a Nespresso machine! So many choices!
Would really recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Rooms facing new Opera House - great view last thing at night and first thing in the morning!

Good location (near the opera, railway statuon and shops/resturants (karl Johan str.). From the railway station you can take the express train to the airport, no need for taxi, you are allready there! Unfortuantly the area around the railway station is not the best (as for most cities i guess), so i wouldt walk alone there in the evening. Great breakfast!

The location of the hotel is superb. Just adjacent to the Train/Rail-station and opposite the Opera house & Oslo port. Besides, the "walking street" where lots of shops & restaurants are located is only a short distance away - a comfortable 10 minute walk.
We were travelling in a group of 26 and stayed for one night. Had a very comfortable stay. The room & bathroom were very good. There was a tea/coffee maker in the room.
The complimentary breakfast spread was very good. There was complimentary free usage of internet & computer in the lobby & business center. The staff were very friendly & helpful. A hotel highly recommended.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the higher floors and with a view of the Opera house & port.

The rooms are quite ordinary, but sufficient. Situated close to the Oslo S (railway) it is ideal for a stay in the capital of Norway. The Opera House is a few hundred meters away and is worth a visit, even just for a short stroll up on top of the building, were you¨ve got a grew view of the city. The breakfast was absolutely brilliant. It¨s a buffet and you can choose from loads of freshly prepared food and natural ingredients. The coffee could have been better.
On Sundays you are able to have a late check out until 17.30 in the evening.
Would recommend this hotel.
