5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

This hotel is probably one of the best ones I've yet visited. The only down to it might be the cost of parking, but I guess that's expected from a city as expensive as Oslo.
The rooms are very well finished, clean, very cozy and comfortable. Staff is friendly and always treated us with a smile.
Breakfast was very varied and had a nice selection of continental breakfast and regional options with different kinds of fruit, cereals, salmon, herring and, of course, bread.
The location is also great; at only a few steps from the "Oslo Radhus", the National theatre and a short walk from the opera, this place is ideal to visit the city centre by foot or on a bike.

I will definitely stay there again.

We stayed for two nights and found the room to be dark and very dated. The bathroom was old and tired and the room very hot. We needed to remove our duvet and use the cover as a sheet as it was just too hot. The reception area is rather spartan and the elevators were not working regularly. The corridors had large scuff marks on the walls and the carpet was worn in the are we stayed in.
Breakfast was excellent but when the breakfast room reaches capacity the area is roped off until there are more spaces available.
Great area, walked from here to almost all attractions. It is a safe area.

Well that was disappointing. I chose this hotel because it had decent reviews, had a good location and the website went on about how modernized it was and what a great first class business hotel it was with pictures of light rooms with wooden floors. Don't be fooled!
We booked a deluxe room (nothing deluxe about it I'm afraid) since we were traveling with our 12 year old and needed an extra bed. The first room they gave us was far from "light" as it had a small window overlooking the interior of the hotel - a window that couldn't be opened, and it was small and had a horrible, dark carpet. They managed to change our room to another "deluxe" room. Still had horrible dark carpeting, the extra bed was placed in front of the bathroom door so that anyone getting up at night would knock the door into the bed. It was on the 9th floor, had two windows - neither overlooking the street- one small one overlooking the internal roof the other a sort of internal roof top patio shared with another room. The only problem was the noise! The hotel's entire ventilation system was outside our windows, and even though we closed them, there was an eternal humming all the time..... Not to speak of our upstairs neighbors partying on their small balcony until 2am.... Then there were the bathroom fixtures that kept falling off every time you touched them. And let's talk about the included breakfast - there aren't enough tables to go around so you have stand in line (at one point there were 15 or so people waiting) and when you finally get a table, if you're unlucky you get to sit in a canteen style seating area next to people you've never met. We went one day then stuck to the bakery around the corner.....
Don't be fooled that parking isn't an issue. They have access to an expensive, smelly underground parking lot but can't reserve a space for you, so if you come with a car on a Friday or a Saturday night - you won't get a spot.....
The one positive thing I have to say about this hotel is the staff - they were all very friendly and did their best to fix any issues we had.

I'm a frequent guest at this hotel because of its central location, good breakfast, cleanliness and good rooms. The area is both safe, central and quiet. It's not the cheapest hotel, but you get what you pay for.

Very central location just 5-10 minutes walk to every touristic place in the city. Also station from the airport is 5 minutes.
Very confortable bed and nice room.
Very reasonable price considering prices in Norway.
Breakfast was really good.

I have stayed at the Rica Victoria a couple of times. The location of the hotel is perfect as it is in the centre of Oslo, next to all the attractions and the National Theatre train station. It is actually located in one of the small streets, so it is very quiet. The rooms are very clean and decent size, although some of them look into the inner hall and feel a bit claustrophobic. The breakfast buffet very good and the staff friendly and accommodating. It is a little on the pricey side.

We stayed a whole week at this hotel and the location is perfect for the beautiful harbour and the main attractions within walking distance of the city. The staff and service from arrival to departure was always very pleasant. The food at breakfast was exceptional! Whether you wanted to be healthy or go continental or hot, it was all there for you and displayed in an attractive pleasing way. As we experienced...some guests do take advantage and prepare the days snacks at breakfast, this is a separate charge so don't be greedy! If you ask for a little as we did it was free! As our parents are diabetic and regular eating times were important, the lovely staff were happy to help without a charge. Moral is...ask and dont be greedy, its not Eurodisney! Its Oslo city. The rooms were attended to daily new towels if required and beds tidied. Space in the rooms and decor are good. Although it was Easter and in Norway the place sort of closes for a week! Including the hotel bar ...we had no problem bringing booze into the hotel. Be prepared to pay double in Norway! But thats the way it is. Overall for my first visit it is a hotel I will use again, plenty to do in a week in this beautiful city.
