“A Norwegian Legend”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

I recall reading all the books in the 70's and had high hopes of this museum. However I felt that it was all very cramped and tired looking. Whilst it was amazing to actually see the Kon-Tiki and RA II it was a slightly disappointing visit. That said it is worth going if combining it with a visit to the Viking Ship Museum. Also take time to wander around the side streets and see some of the lovely houses in the area.

“Mildly Interesting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

I had free entry thanks to the Oslo Pass, but if you're paying an entrance fee, it might not be worth it as this is a small museum. You can watch the Kon-Tiki documentary here, but...well, you could also just watch that at home on your own time. It's interesting to learn about the expedition to Easter Island, though, and some of the rafts and basement exhibits are worth noting.

“Astonishing”

Small museum but you really get to understand and see all about the Kon Tiki expedition, so it is worth it.

“Interesting small museum”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

It probably helps if you are a fan of Thor Heyerdahl. I'm not really that bothered about seeing the vessels he used but I did learn a bit more about him. Still perplexed about his hypothesis being whether people sailed from South America to Polynesia. Why not the other way round? The gift shop has really cheap tacky things in it.

“Childood recollections”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

Actually it was before I was born but one of the original explorers - Thor Heyerdal. Seeing the reconstructed raft (the original was broken up on landing ). Fascianting. Also an exhibit on Easter Island. Just by the Fram museum and if you hae the Oslo pass well worth stopping in and watching the actual record of the expedition
