“Excellent Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

We had a standard room on the 7th floor. Not overly large but nicely furnished and decorated in Scadinavian blonde tones. Good sized desk. No wardrobe but hooks on the wall were adequate for our requirements. Large modern bathroom but no toiletries. Comfortable bed but poor pillows. Breakfast was excellent with a good range of hot and cold food. Staff were very helpful. The hotel is within walking distance of many of Oslo's attractions and services - Opera House, Aker Brygge, Radhusbrygge Quay (ferries to Fram Museum), Karl Johans Gate and the main railway station. There are numerous resaurants in the immediate area. For early departures a light breakfast of fruit and yoghurt or similar would have been appreciated seeing as breakfast had been paid for, but were told if we wanted it it would cost extra! We considered the price asked was unreasonable!

Dear oelandmaxine,
We are glad that you enjoyed your experience with us at the Park Inn Oslo - it sounds as if you had a lovely stay and got to see many of Oslo's main attractions. Our location really is perfect for that! I am sorry that you left before breakfast upon departure. We do offer breakfast packages to go, but there is an extra charge for that, as we do have to have our chef come in early to prepare the packages.

I do hope that your travels bring you back to Oslo again soon, and that we will be able to welcome you to Park Inn Oslo again.

All the best,

We were so pleased with this hotel- its location was perfect. An easy 10 min walk from the train station but close to everything we wanted to see or do. The room was large (lots of room for luggage, hats, etc) with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was very large and yes the shower did have a funny door but my husband and I had no problem taking great showers without getting the bathroom floor wet. Unlike other reviewer we did not find any funny smells in the bathroom- it was spotless. TV was great.

The breakfast was great but VERY busy- some folks seemed to want to linger and chat but they really couldn't. Tables needed to empty so others could sit. But the staff worked very hard to keep the tables clean and the food replenished.

Our room was on the top floor- for us this meant a nice view. We had a corner room with windows facing two ways- no problem with sleeping though since the curtains blocked the light just right. We did not see any other people on our floor the two days we were there. Very quiet.

Price was very reasonable for a hotel in Oslo- would stay there again.

We knew what we were likely to get when booking this hotel, and it didn't disappoint. Yes it is a chain hotel, but sometimes that's just what you want. Oslo is one of the most expensive places we've evr visited, so we couldn't believe just how cheap the price of a double room was, with a superb breakfast included! The staff were friendly and very patient and helpful (helped us out when we couldn't find a cashpoint), the breakfast offered such an array of good food, and the rooms were very clean, modern and ours was quite spacious. The area immediately around the hotel did look a little run down, there was much renovation going on, but we could not have wished for a better location. Within easy reach of the Akerhus Fortress, the port and promenade, the shops and the old town. We walked it from train station with suitcases in about 15-20 mins. If I were to visit Oslo again, I wouldn't bother looking for a different hotel, I would go back there like a shot. It goes without saying that the standard of spoken English is excellent, so no language barriers for anyone worrying about that.

Room Tip: There are some smaller doubles so try to get one that is not intended to be used as 'double for...

Quite surprised of the mould smell from the bathroom. Not a very pleasant experience. Fortunately I was only there for one night, but I'd change hotel if I needed a longer stay. Hopefully they will fix the smell until this autumn.

Service was very good, but the portlier couldn't help with the smell though.

First, the good things. Hotel is quite close to the main street but in a quiet neighborhood. There are a few good restaurants around (the square nearby at Radhusgata has many, also the main street is just two blocks away if you want more people). Also it's about 10 minutes walking from the central station (probably you can take a bus or tram or taxi but it's just faster to walk, unless you have lots of luggage).

Now what I did not like. I was with a friend and we booked a room with two single beds. The beds are so close that really it's more like a double bed with two blankets. Many hotels in Europe have similar arrangement and normally it's not a problem because you can just pull the beds apart. Not in this hotel! The beds practically cannot be moved because of the nightstands attached to the headboard - see the picture. So we almost felt like sleeping in one bed.

The second problem is the bathroom. The shower door is so small (really it's like 1/4 of the shower length) that it's impossible not to make the whole bathroom floor wet when you take a shower. Also the bathroom door has a huge gap so all the noises from the bathroom come to the room, and if the other person walks by the room door it does not really feel like the one in the bathroom has privacy. Again see attached pictures.

Park Inn hotel is well located in the old district of Oslo. It takes not more than 15 minutes walk to reach the main places of interest in the centre of Oslo as well as the railway station. At the same time the district is quiet and empty, a bit afar from the streets overcrowded by tourists. Though if the windows of your room open on the street it is better to keep them closed to avoid a roar of running trams. The rooms are not large but comfortable and clean. They are provided with electric kettle, teacups and tea bags. However there is neither safe nor mini-bar or refrigerator. Sanitary facilities are in good order. Free Wi-Fi in the rooms works properly. There is a large lobby equipped with PC and printer. Breakfasts are good offering the wide range of food. Personnel are kind. Price is average for the hotel of such class in Oslo but it might include at least personal safe and mini-bar in the room. This hotel may be certainly recommended, especially for tourists.

inexpensive hotel placed in the center of Oslo. Rooms have dull view (backyard), so used room only for sleeping.no views from the hotel but nice location 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
No ordinary stairs (just lift), only stairs to emergency exit.

Good value for money.
