“Crab feast and fish”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

Havsmak (Taste of the Ocean) is close to the Royal Castle and Ibsen Museum in Oslo. A little on the exclusive side with prices that match the image. The fish courses are usually excellent. Once a year, in September, a Crab Feast is offered. The crabs are of the famous Hitra-brand. It is a self-serving event. Eat as many crabs as you like, with three kinds of dip and bread. The crabs are au naturel, so you have to do the breaking of shells yourself. Lots of fun with friends. The wine is expensive, but then beer is better for crab, n´est pas? Recommended for a special night out.

“Tasty lutefisk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2012

Went her for a Christmas dinner with friends. Had the Norwegian speciality lutefisk, which was well prepared and better than the most in Oslo.

“Great for sea food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2012

They do have a la carte, but we decided to eat from the specials - and had two courses with a wine packet. The soup was very nice with a big scallop, and the fish was wonderful. They are very generous with the wine - we were served to big glasses with very tasty wine.

“Mediocre food, haughty service, high price.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

I was recommended a bottle of wine by the waitress. She said that it was an excellent wine for the price. The price was about 5 times the shop price which I think is outrageous. When I commented that the wine was not extraordinary at all, I got the response "well, what do you expect for that price". The food was OK but no more. Too expensive for the food quality. I will never go there again.

“Good food - small portions”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2011

We had the three dish menu with the complimentary wine package. The seafood and fish were very tasty, but the portions were small. I was still hungry when I left the restaurant and that should not be the case when you pay 900 NOK/115 € for a meal! The service was OK, but one of the waitresses had piercings in her face and large tattoos on her underarms. That is just not appropriate for a restaurant that pretends to meet a high standard of style and service.
