“Wonderful fish and atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2011

Lofotstua is the real deal. Don't be put off by the interior design à la a 1950s kitchen, this is the place to go for good fish.

The menu is varied and all four people in our party had something different that we were all very happy with. I would love for Lofotstua to be a little bit cheaper, but all fish restaurants seem to be pricier than their meat serving counterparts.

The service is very friendly, and the waiters manage to keep it both prompt and relaxed. They are also very knowledgeable about both the wine and the fish they serve, where it comes from, how it's caught, etc., and will even drag out a big chart to show you what they look like.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2008

Among all the Chinese, Italian, Mexican and God knows what else, this is little gem is something so rare as a Norwegian restaurant in Oslo.

The interior is modelled after Northern Norwegian kitchens in the 50s, and the menu also reflects Northern Norwegian traditions; every kind of fish swimming in Norwegian waters is served here - even seal (very strong game flavour, but not bad), though that comes from Greenland.

The dishes themselves are done superbly, and the friendly staff are also good at recommending vines that complement the various dishes. In this little restaurant the chef himself comes out to make sure you are satisfied with your meal, and always ready to answer any culinary questions you might have.

Excellent place for Norwegian seafood!
