“Small but nice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

The cathedral is a pleasing shape and "nice" inside. OK for photos but nothing special otherwise. The walk over the bridge in a blizzard was best.

“Reaching for the stars”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

It's impossible to miss this building which rises like a giant iceberg, stretching towards the stars. Its white and wood interior doesn't seem stark, just uplifting.
If you get the chance do go to the midnight concert here. The acoustics are superb, the music is a delight - a mixture of Norwegian and Sami folk songs and classical pieces. Not sure how much it costs for the concert alone, as we did it as an excursion, via coach, from the Hurtigruten ship on the southbound journey (about £40 - yes, Norway is expensive). But it was a spellbinding evening and worth every krone.

“Lovely and original design”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We visited here only to find a funeral in progress so had to make a return trip but it was well worth it - we did not find any charge being made for entry unlike previous reviewers.
Original exciting architecture - this cathedral dominates the views of Tromso and whatever angle you see it there is a different originality about it. Night or day, inside or out, really well worth a look.
Do walk over the bridge to get there - very fresh up on the bridge but a lovely approach!

“Great spot for photography but 50 NOK to go inside???”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

On a clear day with blue skies this building looks stunning set against the blue skies and is well worth seeking out for some photography. There's a car park around the back, but cross the road at traffic lights just below to get the best views. It also affords pretty good views of the bridge and the city.

We also thought it would make a good foreground for aurora photography so tried it again at night but to be honest the lights and white of the cathedral are just too bright to balance the shot.

Be warned; they charge 50 NOK for entrance which is just outrageous. We didn't bother going inside
