“I just like this concept !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2009

After my good experience after staying at CIty Living Hotel Schøller in Trondheim I was curious to see if City Living Hotel in Tromsø had the same high standards. I was very satisfied. I stayed in room 504 from the 11-13 of march 2009 and really enjoyed my stay. The apartment was very roomy and perfectly clean. No wall-to-wall carpet, the hole apartment (except from the bathroom) had parquette. The bed was very comfortable. The City Living Hotel is located in quite a modern building, and the room I got must have been recently redecorated (see pictures).
One night there were some noise from the street due to a snowplough which was clearing the road due to heavy snowing, but part from that I was not bothered by any kind of noise. In my opinion this hotel offers good value for money !

Stayed for one Saturday night in early March 09. The hotel was new inside and spotless and our room spacious with an extremely comfortable bed, tasteful modern furnishing etc. It had a small kitchenette which seems to be the way to go in Norway, very handy way of keeping costs down! The building outside doesn't look much but inside is pristine. Both members of staff we met were extremely helpful and friendly (in fact that sums up how we found the whole of Norway actually)! As hotel residents you get a discount if you want buffet breakfast in the restaurant (Egon) over the road - I think it was about 72Kroner for a slap up breakfast with lots of choice - and plenty of opportunity for sneakily making sandwiches for your lunch ;-)

We stayed in Ciy Living for 7 nights in Feb 2009 having found it on Trip advisor. The hotel was fantastic value, the rooms were large and clean and it was great to have the kitchen area.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only drawback was that they are rebuilding a hotel next door and there was quite a lot of building works which started at 7.30am, however, I am sure we could have asked to move but as we saw the northern lights very clearly from our room we wanted to stay where we were!

I would highly recommend this hotel, the location is slap-bang in the centre and about 30 seconds from the flybussen stop. It could not be in a better location and would happily stay there again.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a long weekend in Tromso and stayed at the City Living Hotel and can thoroughly recommend it as a place to stay. The rooms are studio apartments with cooking facilities and a flat screen tv and are immaculately clean and tastefully furnished in a modern contemporary style. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will advise on trips etc. Accepting that Norway is expensive for food and drink this hotel gave us the flexibility to make our own breakfast and cook any meal if we so wished - we only got as far as making porridge! Having read reviews of other hotels in Tromso the general complaint is they need updating but not so in the case of this hotel. Stylish and functional - perfect.

This accomadation is excellent value for money, originally we looked at budget hotels (basic room with no meals included and no cooking facilities) for around the same cost as these apartments.
We stayed in one of City Livings superior suites which had a double bed which could be split into 2 singles, an Lcd tv which could be angled towards the bedroom or the kitchen/dining facilities. The kitchen had Oven/grill, hob, fridge, dishwasher and excellent range of kitchen equipment (pans, cutlery etc). Excellent shower facilites. The apartment also had excellent heating facilities.
As for security, the apartments have their own seperate access from the reception which you have to use your key to access, a key is also required to access the lift and stairs and finally the key is then needed to access your apartment.
All staff were exceptional, i found them to be very helpful.

  • Liked — Central location, very friendly staff and stylish modern accomadation with excellent facilites.
