Oh how I loved my stay at the City Living Hotel. The hotel is made up of apartments with a reception below with very informative and extremely friendly staff who speak both Norwegian and English. My husband and I stayed there for five nights and our apartment was so cosy :) The beds are so comfortable with lovely pillows, the living room is comfortable too with a nice sofa, a dining tabel and chairs, a really nice, clean kitchen with an oven, kettle, cutlery, pans, a frying pan, cups and cleaning utensils. The bathroom is just great - very clean with a heated floor! Nice touch considering it's Artic Norway! The shower is walk-in and towels are provided. There was a big wardrobe too. There is no maid service, which is not really necessary anyway, and towels, toilet rolls and a place to leave your rubbish is along the hallway. You also have access to WIFI with a username and password given to you at check-in. However, extra passwords can be found in the hallway too.
The windows are huge - but I like that. We had a great view of the Tromso streets.
The fact that we had a kitchen was just a godsend as it is expensive to eat out in Tromso. I swear we never ate out once the whole time we were there as Tromso is so tourist friendly. The city centre itself is small and everything is in walking distance. There is a huge supermarket just a block down the same street as the hotel and there is a Spar on the next street. I must have seen at least two more other supermarkets while I was there in the city centre. You can find all the food you need in both of these so you can whip up your own meals. We saved so much money doing this. You can even find ready cooked roast chickens in Spar - actually for half the price you can get them for in the UK... interesting!
This was the first time I have ever stayed in an apartment instead of a hotel, but I am so glad I did. It was just fantastic and I really do recommend City Living to anyone travelling to Tromso. Do not hesitate to book one of these apartments as you will not be disappointed! :)
City Living apartments are clean, well-equipped, in a fantastic location, with great service and excellent value for money.
Tromso itself is a wonderful, beautiful city and every single person we met there, even just in the street asking for directions, was so polite and friendly. The UK could learn a lot...
