As the existing reviews here were not so bad, I tried the Breidablikk. This was a significant mistake. The problems:
1) The curtains are old and thin (photo uploaded), and hardly block any light, which is a very serious problem during the months where the sky hardly gets dark at night. It would be such a small cost to provide serious curtains - it is telling that the owners choose not to do this.
2) It was impossible to get a proper night sleep in the superior room (most expensive). The room was directly below the patio (all rooms are downward from the entrance), and there was alms ton soundproofing. Guests lounged out there in the early evening, and then returned there for breakfast. The movement of the chair just above the bed was so loud that one could not possibly sleep if there were people above. Consequently, one must sleep exactly during the time when this area is not occupied, or it is hopeless.
3) There was horrible water damage above the bed (photo uploaded), and we feared pieces of plaster might fall on us during the night.
4) The breakfast was awful. It was filthy and limited. Meanwhile, the staff played loud rock music from the kitchen with the door open to the breakfast area.
It's unclear to me why there are positive reviews for this place. I suggest ignoring them.More
