“Good restaurant and great breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2011

Stayed three nights in a single room on business. Room was rather small and had a smallish bath room with a shower only separated from the rest of the room by a glass door. Soap, shower gel and shamppo are the only amenities provided. Bed was good and linen very clean. Cleaning in general was okay. Room has a bit dated furniture and decór but a big flatscreen tv with mostly Norwegia channels. Had a rather boring view of a parking lot but other rooms have nice views of the sea. So has the restaurant which is great and worth visiting also if not staying at the hotel. Breakfast is also very good and has lot of things to choose between. You can even make a lunch pack to bring with you if hiking. Staff is friendly and service minded. Curtains in room kept the room dark which was nice as the sun seemed to never set in the summer. Window opens which is also useful because it can actually get quite hot up there. We had 20 C and blue skies all three days. Price seems very high compared to Southern Europe and even though prices are generally high in Norway I would consider cheaper alternatives if paying myself. Hammerfest is marketing itself as the world's northernmost city and is a good starting point when exploring the are around Nordkap. Hotels is near ferry terminal, supermarket, a bit of night life and a tiny shopping center. Airport is around 4 km away.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room with sea view

Apart from the fact its about the only game in town, its a nicely situated hotel with great views along the fjord. Staff were very good. Seems to be a lot of oil/rig/ship workers just dossing around as I'm sure everything is booked up quickly.

This was the nicest hotel we stayed at in our tour of Northern Norway. The room was spacious and well appointed with a nice view. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and we had a good value bar meal. Breakfast was excellent. Parking spaces were limited but we found one.

What can i say, the only thing positive in this hotel is breakfast. Very good, and big choice of food. Everything else katastrophe. They dont know what means to clean a room, the first night we stayed here we couldnt sleep here because they made overbooking (!!!!) and we had to go to another hotel.

3 night stay with co-worker.
Staff was polite and helpfull.

Night one was not good at all. Room had clearly been a smokers room years ago. There had been some minor facelifts and renovated bathroom When i layed down in the bed i could see the dust flying around in the room from the bedside lamp. This was the first time i have gotn an alergic reaction from a hotell room. Ended up with little or no sleep, first day at work there was more or less destroyed becouse of this.

I complained about the room and got a much nicer room on the top floor (alergy room). hardwood floor and decent standard. Quiet, clean and all in all "ok".

Wifi was unstable, gave it up and used mobile broadband.

We didnt find any decent places to dine out so we used the hotell resturant. Superb, it was without a doubt the best thing in the place. Perfect fish, we usualy try a new place every night, but ended up eating here all 3 evnings.

Breakfast had very high standard, nothing to put my finger on.

We stayed in the Rica Hotel Hammerfest the first night after on our car trip through Norwegian. The hotel is standard but nothing special. The rooms are spacious and equipted with the necessary things. However there is no possibility to shut the windows completly dark, what is a problem in summer when there is sun 24 hours a day. The breakfast was small, there was not even black tea availible.
Unfortunatelly there is hardly any better hotel to find in this area, so if you are on a trip to the cape you must accept this Norwegian hotel standard,

I stay in the Rica Hammerfest several nights/year, and I'm very satisfied.

The rooms are clean, with comfortable beds, and most rooms are relatively large - if you are travelling alone.

The breakfast buffet is good. The food in the restaurant is good, but not exactly cheap.
