Description: Cafe Sacher Vienna offers the perfect chance to sample a typical Viennese coffee-house atmosphere and - of course - to treat yourself to a slice of the legendary Original Sacher-Torte. The Cafe Sacher, directly opposite the Opera House, is a popular meeting place in the center of Vienna. The windows of the conservatory fold away in the summer to make an open terrace that is the perfect place to soak up the sights and sounds of the city.

“A Must, but Touristy...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

If you go to Vienna, you want to see the sacher and have a Piece of Sacher Torte!

The positive:
- Old traditional Hotel and Restaurant plus Cafe with lot of Tradition and history
- Good Location across Opera
- Sacher Torte is really good
- Food is also quite good, I had Wiener Schnitzel with Potatoe Sald - the salad was delicious!

The less good:
- Very touristy place, lots of tourists queing, and unfortunately this does ruin the traditional atmosphere a bit
- Staff is OK, but not overly friendly, sometimes arrogant

Conclusion: go there once so you have seen it, but probably not the place to go back...

“You have to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

The famous Sacher Torte and Sacher Cube (a smaller version) are everything they are reputed to be. Looking over the Opera House it's a great place during the day and in the evening too. For a drink and/or cakes.

“When in Vienna, you must have an original sacher torte”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

This is the birth place of the sacher torte! It's a beautiful, charming cafe (Vienna has the best cafes - you must try lots!) with deserts and coffee. It's a busy place - for good reason. Definitely worth the wait time to enjoy some delicious desserts!

“Original Sacher Cake and coffe for breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

I have this strange habit when I am in Vienna to have at least one an orginal Sacher cake at Café Sacher with "ein Kännchen Kaffee" for breakfast. I just enjoy the historical site, the somewhat posh establishment and the great Sacher cake.

“Living on its reputation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2014

We went here for coffee and cake as the guide book suggested this was the place to try sacher torte. We sat outside, which was very pleasant, and the service was satisfactory. Our coffee was fine but I was disappointed with the cake. It seemed dry and was not as good as other cakes we had whilst in Vienna. Maybe I was unlucky but I could not give it the glowing reviews that others have done. I would suggest that there are much nicer cafes to visit whilst in Vienna.
