First and most important, the service is friendly, knowledgable and efficient. On the front desk, Catherine, Liosh, Nadine and Bettina were uniformly first class during our one week stay. In the dining room, only open for the included breakfast, Antonella supervises a spread the quality and variety that rivals a luxury cruise line.

Here's what's unique.
1- There's orginal art all over; in the halls, on the window sills, in the rooms. Its like staying in a gallery and creates a wonderful atmosphere.

2- The spa is private. You book it for an hour and its yours; Wet steam, sauna, elaborate shower [ask for operating instructions as it does have several controls] and two chaise lounges. Perfect, private spot to unwind and no extra charge.

3- The owner lives above the hotel and her presence and attention to detail is obvious.

Also, great location. Across from the Museum Quarter; situatred in the middle of a shopping district, taxi stand less than one block away and we never saw it empty, easy walking distance to many attactions and the incredible Vienese mass transit system.

We will return to Vienna and look forward to being guests at Das Tyrol.

Room Tip: Prices are reasonable by North American standards. Ask for superior room on a corner.

We stayed in a superior room, which gets you a balcony overlooking the high street.

Staff are so genuinely friendly, it was wonderful.Recommended Glacis Biesl along the road for food, which was also great.

The three person brass elevator is an experience.

Free wifi and the sauna room is good too.

Room Tip: Superior rooms have balconies, and are I think a little larger than the normal rooms. Floor 5 was gr...

It's a superb hotel. I stayed here for 2 nights last month. The rooms are good, large, spacious, nicely decorated. I love that they have a spa with free access. I will stay here again, when I will revisit Vienna.

Stayed for two nights last December. The rooms are a bit small but not uncomfortably small. The bathroom is generously stocked and everything about this place looks exactly like it is advertised on-line. The free use of the spa is by far the best perk and an awesome way to help re-coup from jetlag. Though DO NOT use it in your birthday suit! You may have private use of it but there are see through windows in the fish tank to the outside area. Though the hotel is in the middle of busy Vienna (which is great) the room we were in was super quiet. And because of the awesome location, we were able to walk everywhere. All the major Christmas markets were in walking distance. I would love to stay here again!

You do your research, you find the hotel that seems the best, you get there and it surpasses your preconceived thoughts, that Das Tyrol. we spent 4 nights there last week and loved every minute, from the highly impressive breakfast selection to the private sauna/steam rom downstairs which is brilliant but so little used it seemed, just right for the end of the day after walking Vienna's streets, museums and art galleries, staff could not be more helpful, our german is non existent but their English was perfect the room though not large is comfortable in the extreme, nespresso coffee machine was my squeak of delight, the lift again fitted in with the luxury level they have set themselves and the art work was wonderfully quirky the hotel is ideally placed for walking into the central area but we did the tram journey for our own challenge

stay here you wont get any better service and the large impersonal hotels cannot match it for quality of personal service

Room Tip: we were on the 4th floor and it was quiet and the lift was quick !!!

The service was very helpful. Restaurant recommendations, reservations, directions....nothing was too much trouble and always with a smile.

The breakfast was enjoyable and delicious. Location was easy to public transport and museum quarter and the city palace. I have stayed in other hotels in Vienna, and prefer the location of this hotel. I wanted to love this hotel, especially because all the staff was so helpful and kind. But that said, I won't be a return guest. The reasons are...

The hotel and rooms have a heavy artificial smell. I found the smell to be overbearing, as if potpouri was hidden in the room, or an overusage of perfumed cleaning products. The whole hotel smells of this odor which was too bad, as it seems man made and something that would be easily removed. Rooms were too small. Walls thin, could hear when the room next to us was in the shower.

I had a wonderful stay here recently. It is indeed a small, but luxurious hotel, and as others have noted, the location is terrific; right off the energetic Mariahilferstrasse shopping street, but off to a side street, so the rooms themselves are very quiet at night. The room was a bit small and dark for my taste, but outfitted perfectly with everything you need; super comfy beds, a well-stocked easy-to-use Nespresso machine, free Wi-fi, etc. The bathroom was a magic turbo chamber; small but everything worked great. The huge rain shower head had great water pressure, there was a towel warmer, the hair dryer magically dried my hair in like 3 minutes and it even had a US plug shaver outlet which was very handy for someone who doesn't have converters. Somehow with the steamy showers all the windows stayed clear afterwards. And best of all, the local tap water is reportedly as good as Evian, so you are basically bathing and showering in Evian everyday in Vienna, awesome!

You are only a block away from the U-bahn at Museumsquartier and close to the RIngstrasse and all the assorted trams as well. You could easily walk all the way to the heart of old town if in the mood (St Stephen's Cathedral in about 15-20 minutes).

Plenty of eating and shopping options nearby; the pleasant front desk staff recommended a small historical area a couple blocks north with plenty of Austrian pubs, and I would also suggest the Nachtmarket a couple blocks south with tons of little restaurants and marketstands. You also have a decent free breakfast buffet with assorted coldcuts and yogurt, etc and they can make omelets for you as well.

I appreciated nice little touches like leaving different kinds of chocolate on our beds each day by housekeeping and upon departure. There is a sauna/spa in the basement which looked nice (that I didn't use). You might actually prefer a lower room floor in this hotel because the elevator is very tiny and slow, and the stairs might be faster.

Overall, I slept great here!
