“Good bed & shower & breakfast in perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

I genuinely cannot think of anything wrong at all with this hotel.
Great corner room on second floor - with balcony (220 I think). Good black out blinds and soundproofing on windows and walls. Great shower and bathroom. Good coffee maker and bottles of water supplied.
Chocs on pillow each night.
Professional staff who were just friendly enough (not overbearing). Perfect.
Fabulous selection at breakfast and very good espresso indeed.
All in all - *wow*...I would come back to this city JUST to stay here again!

Room Tip: Second floor has one corner room with balcony - 220 I think. Very good.

I would mirror the comments written by the other reviewers. This genuinely is a lovely place to stay. We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights at the end of September 2012. We were given a lovely corner room on the 3rd floor which was spacious, well decorated good sized bathroom with lovely toiletries.
Its best to sum up the pros and cons of the hotel.

Pros
1. Quiet spacious well appointed rooms
2. Well decorated throughout with good art and small elevator with a lot of character
3. Excellent staff who are always happy to help and make you feel like nothing is a problem
4. Large flat screen TV in room
5. EXCELLENT private spa type area in basement (able to rent out for a few hours at a time, with steam room, sauna and private multifunctional shower.....absolute bliss in a city location, would only be bettered if it had a jacuzzi!)
6. Breakfast included with room (Adequate breakfast, but would say not as impressed as previous reviewers. There is a range of meats and cheeses, cornflakes, croissant + toast, one or two donut/cakes, juices and tea/coffee with hot food being a range of about 5 types of egg) Much better than the majority of continental breakfasts that you see in europe, but I have had much much better breakfasts around the world.
7. Great location. About 10 min walk to centre, lots of food places around, shops around, access to bike rentals and u-bahn within your doorstep, most importantly SAFE.

Cons.
1.Lots of TV channels but of the 5 or so english ones, they were all news channels (standard in most european hotels I guess)
2. We had a problem with the springs on one side of the bed being uncomfortable. (bed needs changing)

As you can see, not many cons. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!!

Dear Niktheguru,

Thank you so much for taking the time and write you comments about our hotel and your stay with us. We are very pleased that you liked our rooms, the decoration of the hotel, our private SPA and the excellent location.

We would like to comment about our TV channels and the mattresses as follows:

We have a really wide selection of 90 TV channels, 10 of them in english: 2 entertainment channels (MGM and Sky films) and 8 news channels (CNN, BBC world, CNBC, Sky news int., Bloomberg, Russia Today, CCTV News and Jewish News). As our guests have to press the minus button (-) on the remote control to reach these two entertainment channels, some guests overread the TV instructions in the room and do not find these channels.

Regarding our bedding we are changing our mattresses next week! The new mattresses are very cosy and are high 25 cm / 9,9 inch. We hope that our guests will appreciate the new comfort.

We truly hope that we will welcome you again in the future.

Best regards,
Helena Ramsbacher, Owner

We spent two nights in Vienna, celebrating our 10 year anniversary (and letting the Hotel know in advance), we were greeted and congratulated by a very gentle night staff member who gave us an upgrade to a corner room. We had a fruit basket and bottle of wine waiting for us in the room.
The hotel is full of works of art, hanging in every wall, including your room, which make it a great experience! They have an old but fully restored elevator that’s an experience by itself. Breakfast is wonderful with many options including a-la-carte eggs & crepes. There's a Nespresso coffee machine in every room. Toiletries are good quality and the room is very spacious.
The hotel is located in great area, on a street with lots of shops, metro stations, services, just in front of the Museumquartier and with a very short walking distance to the opera. The best place to go for dinner is the tourist-free VIENNA NASCHMARKT, which is two blocks away.
I would not consider any other hotel in Vienna, my experience was just wonderful!

We came to Vienna to briefly renew acquaintance with this lovely city on our way to a flight home.
Our too brief one night stay was made special by the accommodation in this hotel. The staff in reception were all very friendly and informative and nothing was too much trouble. Our bedroom and bathroom were very well appointed and thoroughly cleaned. The breakfast room was small but with a pleasant atmosphere, and the breakfast set us up well for a long day leading to a late flight. The location is ideal - two minutes down the road is the Museum Quarter and up the road many shops. We had a memorable dinner in a nearby Austrian restaurant mainly frequented by locals which was recommended to us by the receptionist. We wanted to rest and have a shower before going to the airport and were advised to book the spa for two hours. So, relaxed and cleansed we rather reluctantly left to face a long haul flight back home.

This was a wonderful hotel. Found it on Trip advisor and the hotel were as beautiful in person as it was online. Rooms were nice, not large, but do-able for 1 or 2 people. My sister was in the adjoining room, and her room was configured differenly and was a bit smaller. Loved the location, staff could not have been any nicer, breakfast was lovely and the wait staff treated you like family. Walkable to almost anywhere and the hop-on-hop-off bus is a must. It brought you to sights and places that were just not walkable. Overall, great experience and vacation.

+ Lovely spacious room (we had standard)
+ Coffee machine in the room
+ Friendly staff
+ Lot of pleasant things

- Poorer breakfast compared to larger hotels
- Dark room (it is not enough enlightened)

Our stay at Das Tyrol was wonderful ! This hotel is a gem!
Our room ( junior suite) was lovely and spacious. The bathroom was very well appointed and the heated towel racks were a nice touch Housekeeping in addition to keeping our room spotless, anticipated needs ( eg spare box of kleenex when there was a possibility of running out). A huge plus was there were lots of plugs to recharge "stuff". Internet access was straight forward and the WiFi was very robust.
The location is great, easy waling distance to the major attractions, the metro is close and lots of shopping and restaurants near by.
Breakfast was excellent with a great variety of hot and cold for any taste.
The staff, particularly the front desk staff couldn't have been more helpful.
We chose this hotel partly because of the reviews on this site. We wondered if it was a little too good to be true. In this case not at all. It is everything everyone says it is.
Great value, great experience !
