“Simply elegant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

Based in a beautiful historic building, this hotel has simple and calming interior design which speaks elegance rather than opulence, and this will be its point of difference amongst the luxury hotels in vienna.
The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed. Being new everything was immaculate, clean with no signs of ageing. An iPad is available in each guest room where you can order room service and spa treatments from.
The hotel as a wonderful lobby to enjoy coffees and cakes. The dining and in room menus are also excellent.
It is conveniently located - 5 minute walk from city centre and 10 minute walk to see the main tourism sites.
I would gladly stay here again and would recommend it to others.

This hotel is brand new and I would highly recommend it. It's very modern, high-tech and the level of service is truly 5-star. If you go, upgrade your room to a Junior Suite, well worth the price with a balcony and view of the city. It's in the heart of the city well within walking distance to Stephenplatz and the Royal Parliament. I can't say enough great things about this hotel and for the money it's a great place for the amenities you receive.

Room Tip: Go for the Junior Suite

We booked a basic king room at the last minute (after our Danube cruise was cancelled due to the big floods), and were very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The location is good - just north of the main sites and within 2 blocks of a train staion. The lobby is beautiful - spacious and never felt crowded. The room was also impressively spacious. Beautiful marble bath with digital controls all around. They provide an I-pad in each room (along with free internet). The staff is extremely friendly, but not overwhelming. Will definitely stay there again!

My first trip to Vienna and I had the good fortune to spend 5 nights on business at the superb new Palais Hansen Kempinski. It was exceptionally good. As well as being a handsome old building (only recently opened as a hotel), the three most striking things were the quality of the service from the attentive staff, the consistently fine cooking (especially pastries, baking and desserts) and the quality of the furnishings and gadgets. It's a new hotel and they have gone out of their way to put high tech touches throughout the hotel. My room, which was a Deluxe room (one category up from bottom) was really well equipped with an iPad that you could use to look up your bill or act as a remote control/TV guide or just carry around the room and hotel with you to surf the internet. There was a lot of touch technology generally. The fabulous shower had a digital readout for the temperature, controlled by more little buttons. It all worked well, as you would expect.

The staff were really well trained - starting with the guy who took my suitcases out of the taxi on arrival and greeted me by my name without being told it - I'm guessing that he read it off the luggage labels or perhaps he had been briefed because I'm a high level on the GHA Discovery loyalty programme that covers Kempinski, Pan Pacific, Doyle Collection and others. Either way, it was a good start. And the excellent staff service continued all week.

The only irritation was the lack of an ironing board and iron in the room. That would be OK as long as they could deliver you one when you ask for it but sadly they didn't have enough in the hotel as two days I asked for one and they couldn't manage to find one for me. In the end they did free pressing for me anyway but sometimes you are in a hurry and can't wait for the hotel's laundry service. But that was the only flaw in a really good hotel experience. Now I'm home I need to go on a diet to get rid of the weight gain from all those delicious pastries...

If you want adventurous, Michelin-star level cuisine, the Edvard restaurant is very grand and the quality of cooking is also excellent. I expect it will have a star within a year. It was a little too grand for my tastes as a daily dining venue though.

During my stays over years (and, considering that I am a truly loyal guest to the Marriott chain) I used to stay at the Marriott at the Parkring in Vienna. But this will not happen again as I was a guest at the Kempinski recently.

In summary: this hotel is definitely a top spot and is definitely amongst the top 3 hotels I have ever been to. Of course the hotel is located at a good location (0.5 mins to stock exchange, 10 walking to city center). But all of this is basically just the starting point: the rooms are perfectly arranged (wooden floor at the entrance, nice details everywhere, great technology (iPad enabled et al)). Of course, the bathroom is great as well - great amenities, great shower, etc

Best amongst those is still the breakfast which equals much more a top notch food store. Loved my "eggs benedict style" and enjoyed great service from staff.

Last but not least: staff - without exceptions - is great. would like to highlight Jennifer at the reception.

If I needed to find downsights: parking fee (40 €) is too high for my understanding

The hotel is newly opened and very nice! Rooms are spacious and well equipped (Nespresso machine, iPad). Hotel is perfectly designed. Stuff is helpful, and not annoying:). Location is 15 minutes walking from Graben, Kartner str., etc. Not all the taxi drivers know where it is (as it has been opened recently). So, always have address with you:-) Really enjoyed my stay there.
