“Nothing's changed-still fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

I ate here one years ago and was blown away the first time by the food and Kim's endless hospitality. Nothing at all has changed in that respect- the food and the service was excellent!Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.

“Personal Chef Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

Expensive but if you can afford this luxury not to be missed. This is a fish and vegetarian menu only with set courses.Kim is in attendance on each table and explains dishes asking before cooked if there is anything you dislike.

“pure excitement”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

You would never expect such a fantastic restaurant in the surrounding of a 3 story grocery store, located on the third floor. Obviously Kim is a well known Chef in Austria, author of several books and for sure one of the best fusion kitchen receipe designer i have had ever. Beautiful how she combines traditional austrian kitchen with asian flavour. If i think on her caramelised KAISERSCHMARRN with Ginger/Apple salad i could go back immediately.
If you are not more than a couple, try to sit at the bar, just seperated from kitchen staff with a glass wall and dont forget to close your mouth, because what you see is pure cooking art. Beautiful oustanding experinece. MUST SEE!

“Lunch maybe, but not a nice dinner experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

"Kim kocht" was promoted as one of the highlights in the newly opened posh flagship store of the Austrian supermarket chain Merkur. After my first visit to the place, I feel it shows promise but they could have done more.

Good parts first: My vegetable wok was nice, chock full of fresh vegetables and yummy tofu, with just the right balance of spice. There was a bit much of onion/leek, but I am maybe picky.
The biggest plus is service: The very friendly waiter showed a level of service orientation and attentiveness that you most often sadly miss in Vienna - it was really a pleasure, and the guy would not be out of place in a really nice restaurant.
Food is extremely nicely arranged and presented on stylish plates.

Where I would have expected more:
The setting is a bit sterile - tucked away between the champagne shelves and the freezers with the ready-made dishes are a few tables with plastic chairs, which does not make for a nice eating experience. It was a bit cold, as Vienna has surprised us with snowfall at the end of may.
The menu is very small and not very innovative. 6 or 7 starters, the same amount of main courses, including a Wiener Schnitzel and 4 choices of wok (veggie, chicken, tuna steak, tuna pieces).
Overall, if Merkur wants to compete with Meinl am Graben, Austria's best food store, they have quite a bit of work in front of them as the restaurant, bar, and wine bar there are much nicer.
